Sorry I wasn't able to get to the Celebration of Life for Les today. We go back all 65 years and have kept touch. Just a few weeks ago he sent me a picture that he found of Hugh Fraser and I with our wives singing together in what he guessed was Mackling's basement, dated 1983. I replied "I don't recall being at his house, but I believe my crystal ball is growing dim after 35 years". I also recall, the four of us known as "The Two by Two", singing for Les at what I believe was St. Boniface Hospital when he was recovering from a medical procedure back then. Our condolences to the Gurr family. Les was a great guy, who gave freely of his time. Gord Gooding (Fort Garry Four) - Posted by: Gordon Gooding (Friend) on: Aug 09, 2018

I recently had the good fortune to renew a relationship with Les. He and my dad were very good friends for over 60 years. We had been enjoying exchanging emails almost daily over the past few weeks. Mostly, these involved Les sharing Barbershop music with me, which was his passion and a part of my life forever. I recall that back in the mid-seventies, Les and Helen loaned me their “pink car” so that I could take my young family camping. A broken radiator hose did not spoil our weekend and I appreciate their generosity to this day. Thanks for continuing to be a friend to three generations of my family. You will be missed. - Posted by: Ross Mackling (Family friend) on: Aug 08, 2018
