Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or Memory(BEATRICE) THELMA SIGFUSSON (nee GOODMAN) January 7, 1920 - July 30, 2018 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Amma and Langamma (Beatrice) Thelma Sigfusson, at the age of 98 years, on July 30, 2018. Our mother Thelma, was predeceased by her loving husband Svein Olafur Sigfusson CM 1992; son Charles Svein 1992; daughter Darlene Sigridur Timmis 2010; grandson Kristjan Skuli Sigfusson 2010; mother Sigridur Halldorson 1991, and stepfather Mike Halldorson 1966; brothers, Norman Goodman 1973, sister-in-law, Gunna Goodman 1999; and Magnus Carlyle Goodman 2002. Remaining to cherish Thelma's memory are her children, Skuli (Heida) Sigfusson; Linda (Ray) Gawryluk; and Olivia (Richard) Warrington. Grand and great-grandchildren, Freya Sigfusson, Nia and Tristan McInnis; Noni Rosenblat (Dan), Ryler and Charles; Jeremy Gawryluk (Sangeeta) Kailas and Aleifr (Vancouver); Ryan Gawryluk (Jodie) Reed and Thea (Victoria); Thor Carpenter (Misty) Britta (Seattle). She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews in the Goodman and Sigfusson family along with two sisters-in-law, Olof Bertram (Brandon) and Thelma Sigfusson (Lundar). Mom was raised by her mother Sigridur and stepfather Mike Halldorson, a dairy farmer, in the community of Lundar, Manitoba. Icelandic was the language spoken at home, and it wasn't until Mom started school that she spoke English. Thelma was a graduate of Success Business College in Winnipeg where she received many proficiency awards. As a young bride, she and Svein moved from Lundar to a new home on Valour Road where they lived until their move in 1959 to a 10-acre property on River Road, in St. Andrews, MB. This move enabled Svein to base his airplane on the Red River and fly directly north to oversee his freighting operation. Thelma was a stay-at-home mom raising a family of five children with all their many wants and needs - driving to countless sporting events, pickups of children and grandchildren, whatever was required with a smile on her face and more often than not a treat along the way. Thelma lived a life of deep contentment and happiness. She was a gentle soul, with a loving smile for all, a calm, serene demeanor, non-judgemental, loving, accepting of all, and sincere in all her actions and deeds. She devoted her life to supporting and nurturing her family to the best of her ability. She was a beautiful woman who took pride in her appearance, always made sure she was well dressed and had her weekly hair appointment. Growing up in this loving environment, with such a fantastic mother, we were very lucky children to be doted on with cinnamon buns, vinarterta, gorgeous handmade sweaters, vests or socks. Thelma liked to knit, tend to a large garden, treat friends, family, nursing home, and a senior's block with her harvest abundance. Friendships were considered a lifelong gift, a gift to be constantly nurtured. She was an advocate "share with others who were less fortunate than you". When Dad was writing his book "Sigfusson's Roads", Mom would type draft after draft until Dad no longer made changes. All of this effort was a labour of love for her. It gave her a sense of fulfillment and happiness to help him. Coffee time was a ritual at 3:00 p.m. each afternoon and friends and family would stop by for a good cup of Icelandic coffee made in the traditional "sock" together with some homemade treats. A strong work ethic and the importance of education were part of Mom's core and these values were instilled in her children from an early age. All five of her children received university educations. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Floor 3 staff at Kildonan Personal Care Centre for their loving and compassionate care of Mom over the last five years. We could count on you to give Thelma the best care possible. A private family funeral was held on Saturday, August 4, 2018. Goda nott Elskan. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

What a wonderful tribute to Thelma. I only met her a few times at Olof’s summer home in Gimley but I was so impressed with her lovely, sweet personality. She had the most adorable suits and was a such an impressive lady! You are blessed to have had her as your family matriarch for so many years! - Posted by: Judy Goodman (Jamie McMahon) on: Aug 11, 2018
