Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFAY MAUREEN ALWARD (nee JOHNSTON) Fay Alward, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away on January 21, 2018. Fay is predeceased by her husband C. James (Jim) Alward. They had been happily married for 60 years. She is survived by her son Michael of Winnipeg and his sons, Mark and Christopher, and by her daughter Margot (Peter Pliszka) of Toronto, and their children, Alexandra, Theodore and Nicolas. She is also survived by her brother James Lawrence (Laurie) Johnston, and by her brother-in-law John MacDiarmid and his family. Fay was born in Regina on May 11, 1929 and lived in Ontario and in every western province in her youth. Mom was a longtime member and served two terms as President of the Schoolmasters' Wives Association of Winnipeg providing scholarships to promising students in the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Education. She enjoyed playing "recreational bridge". Fay was also a long-serving member of the Dragon Ladies at St. George's Anglican Church. Fay was devoted to her children and grandchildren. "Nana" was ever-present as their biggest fan at sporting, scholastic and musical events. A celebration of Fay's life will be held Saturday, August 25 at 1:00 p.m. at St. George's Anglican Church, 168 Wilton Street, Winnipeg.
