KAREN SUSAN JUER March 23, 1957 - August 12, 2018 Karen Susan Juer passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a long fight with cancer. Karen will be deeply missed and always remembered by her husband Ron Kowalchuk; her two daughters, Michelle Kowalchuk and Nicole Kowalchuk; her mother Eleanor Juer; her sisters, Phyllis Falk, Sandra Juer (Bruce), Val Kerbrat (Laurie); mother-in-law Mary Kowalchuk; brother-in-law Ken Kowalchuk (Sandra); and sister-in-law Janet Derkatch. She is also survived by her aunts, an uncle, nieces and nephews. Karen was predeceased by her father Ralph Juer; her sister Bernice Monk; her uncles, Cliff Juer and Brian Juer; her grandparents, Maude and Algie Bruce, and Percy and Mary Scott; father-in-law Steve Kowalchuk. Karen grew up in Camper, MB. She was the first of five girls born to Eleanor and Ralph. Growing up she was her father's shadow when he went trapping. She acquired the knowledge of operating heavy duty equipment while working with her dad and her love for gardening came from her mom. At the age of 23 Karen took a job in Inwood, MB working for Dennis Lake Enterprises, which was owned by Ron Kowalchuk. This job was the perfect opportunity to utilize her skills in operating heavy duty equipment again. After some time Ron and Karen went on to start a family together. Karen enjoyed the outdoors, working on the farm as well as tending to her expansive garden. She also enjoyed spending time with both of her daughters, Michelle and Nicole, either going out for a movie lunch date, shopping, or staying in and watching her favourite show Coronation Street. Karen's two girls were the center of her world and she was always very proud of them. In keeping with Karen's wishes, a private family service will be held at Dog Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc., 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Just seeing this now. Karen and I were friends for a short time (we were in the same grade in Ashern school.) There was a group of us girls that hung out during lunch and recess. I have an old black and white photo of our little gang sitting on the steps/handrails going into the "hut" that served as classroom space waiting for a bigger school to be built. Every recess and lunchtime we cruised the playground talking and being goofy. Wonderful person. RIP Karen...with fond memories 💕 - Posted by: Lori Steinthorson (Classmates and friends from way back.) on: Mar 23, 2022

  • Sorry to hear of Karens passing, our Dads were good friends and at least once a year, I would get to see first hand what Karen could do clearing brush on her dads cat "Amazing". - Posted by: Keith Kristianson (Family friend) on: Jan 13, 2019

  • With Sadness of Heart, I read Karen's Obituary; ...Remembering her as a lovely young "Tom Boyish" Girl...a very close School Friend of My Daughter Bernice {Bunny}... I haven't seen Karen for many years...but at this time...things turn back a good 30 to 40 years...a lot of lovely memories of her..just such a almost "carefree Girl"....I'm sure she was a very Caring "Wife" and Mother. My Deepest, and, Most heartfelt sympathy, go out to ALL of you, "Her family" Ron, Michelle, & Nicole; and of Course Her Mother Eleanor; Sisters Phillis, Sandra & Val, and your families; and "All Karen's Friends" I am "Sure" she will be solely Missed by you all...Sincerely Janet Jundt & Family - Posted by: Janet JUndt (aquaintance of the Family) on: Aug 16, 2018
