LESLIE COSENS It is with broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, dad, and papa, Leslie Cosens, at Selkirk Regional Health Centre on August 10, 2018 at the age of 76 years, with his wife by his side. He will be lovingly remembered by Millie, his wife of 22 years; his son Don (Joleen); son Rob (Charlyene); son Stephen (Bonnie); daughter Diane (David); and daughter Tara (Gerald). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Shelbi, Tristen, Madison, Maguire, Amanda, Tessa, Jennifer, Katie, Ashley, Conner, Madison, Regan, Patrick (a.k.a. Charlie) and Bridget; as well as many nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers in-law, whom he deeply cherished. He was predeceased by his parents, Ella and Russel Cosens, his wife of 27 years, Patricia, brothers, Pt. John Cosens (6th Field Artillery), Pt. Jesse James Cosens (Essex Scottish Regiment), and baby sister Cosens. Les grew up in Fisher Branch and was an avid baseball player for the Fisher Branch Falcons, Netley Lakers, and King's Hotel Teams. Les was known for his famous throwing arm. After graduating from Red River, Les worked as an electrician all his life, retiring from Andersson Electric in 2005. In his retirement, Les kept busy in his beautiful garden and was always on call for odd jobs, helping as many friends and family that he could. Les married his first wife Patricia in 1967 and they raised two sons together. After Patricia's passing, Les found love again with Millie when they met in 1996. They enjoyed many years together surrounded by their grandchildren. Papa Les adored all of his grandkids and taught them many things about life, but especially about his garden, and didn't mind them trampling through it looking for strawberries. The family would like to thank Dr. Zoppa for his extraordinary care of both Les and Millie and would also like to thank all the nurses at Selkirk Regional Health Centre, and his special friend Wendy from physio. Please join us in a celebration of Leslie's life on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Les to the Selkirk Regional Health Centre. "Yes, Papa--Ya'buts are in the bush!" Condolences, photos and videos may be left on Leslie's tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

Les was a truly amazing, inspiring, strong man. He fought so hard for his life for so many years. The stories I have heard about him also from so many people that knew him make him a legend! It is so rare to have the chance to meet such an extraordinary person. Such a gentle sole in the midst of such terrible circumstances. And such a beautiful family. To have a beautiful love like that with Millie, to have a wife like that is a true unbelievable blessing that very few are fortunate enough to have. Thank you both. I am humbled by my experiences with you. Rob Zoppa. - Posted by: Robert Zoppa (Family Physician, friend) on: Aug 30, 2018
