DIANE BEVERLY FISCHER (nee VOGT) March 21, 1944 - August 12, 2018 Surrounded by her loving family, Diane passed away at Riverview Health Centre on August 12, 2018, after a battle with cancer which was fought with courage, dignity, and determination. Diane was born and raised in Winnipeg and was the daughter of Charles and Lena Vogt. Diane married the love of her life, Alois Fischer in 1963 and was happily married for 47 years. The incredible strength she showed battling cancer was also the strength she used in standing beside Al when he battled his many illnesses. Diane's greatest pride and joy were her three sons and five grandchildren. Family was the most important thing to Diane and it was her strength, fortitude, and organization that made her the cornerstone of the Fischer family. As a wonderful mother, she supported her sons with love, devotion, and steadfast support in so many different ways. Her favourite time of year was Christmas, and she was famous for her incredible baking, amazing Christmas dinners, and a house decorated top to bottom, to embrace the Christmas spirit. She loved the Christmas season so much, as it always brought everyone together to celebrate. Diane will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her sons, Rolland (Danielle), Kurt (Nicole), and Anthony (Nicole); her grandchildren, Nathan, Andréa, Derek, Anna, and Maxim; as well as many friends and family who enjoyed many happy lunch gatherings and coffee times with her. Our sincerest thanks to Doctors Gordon and Ogaranko, as well as their staff, and also Riverview Health Centre 3E for their compassionate and wonderful care of Diane. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2018, at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB. A private family interment will be held and reception will follow immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 1379 Kenaston Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R3P 0Y4. God saw you getting tired, when a cure was not to be, He closed his arms around you and whispered, come to me. In tears we saw you sinking, we watched you fade away. Our hearts were almost broken, you fought so hard to stay. What you suffered, you told us few, you didn't deserve what you went through. Tired and weary, you made no fuss, but tried so hard to stay with us. But when we saw you sleeping, so peaceful, free of pain, We could not wish you back to suffer all that again. So treasure her, Lord, in your garden of rest, For here on earth she was the very best. God bless you, Amen!
