ALBERTINE LAGASSE (BERT) (nee GREGOIRE) It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our loving mother, Albertine Lagassé, on August 15, 2018 at le Foyer Valade, surrounded by her family. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her children, Angèle (Roger), Arthur (Diane), Louis (Diane), Gerard (Lucie), Henri (Suzanne), Carmelle (Dwayne), Georges (Helen) and René (Joanne), as well as her 21 grandchildren, their spouses and 41 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her siblings, Marie-Jeanne, Eva (Knud), Simone, Sr. Armande, Maurice (Evelyn), Angèle (Roman), Denis (Sharon) and Marcel (Linda); a brother-in-law Roland (Lilliane); sisters-in-law, Alma, Mae, Armelle, Donalda, Claudette and Diana; nieces and nephews and very special friends, Jeannette and Armand. Mom was predeceased by her husband Armand, of 56 years, in 2000 and her son Ronald in 1969. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Albert, Léopold, Léopoldine, Ralph, Marie-Ange, Aldéa, François, Dollard, Marie-Reine and Bibiane. Albertine was born on June 15, 1918, daughter of Joseph and Exilia Grégoire of Lorette. Mom and Dad married on June 1, 1944. They settled in St. Adolphe on a small hobby farm where they raised their nine children. Mom was always smiling, happy and full of love and understanding. She also had an amazing sense of humour and a great deal of patience. We used to say that she had the patience of a saint. La joie de vivre was never more evident than when she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom was an active member of la Ligue des femmes catholiques. She also enjoyed being a member of le Club Amical, playing shuffleboard, bingo, joking and laughing with all of her many friends. Mom was a very spiritual person who proudly displayed a statue of la Sainte Vierge which was beautifully surrounded by pink and white petunias in her flower garden. The family would like to express their gratitude to the dedicated staff of le Foyer Valade who cared for our Mom since 2012. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 in the St. Adolphe Roman Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. preceded by the eulogy at 1:45 p.m. For those who wish, donations in Mom's memory may be made to a charity of their choice.
