ANNA JANZEN February 12, 1935 - August 20, 2018 Anna Janzen (nee Froese), at the age of 83 years, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord, on August 20, 2018 with family by her side. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Jacob in 1985; her son Ernie in 1988; her parents, Johann and Helene; and sister Irene. Left to cherish her memory are her son Dieter; her daughter Ellie; her daughter Laureen (Barry); grandchildren, Samara (Todd), Christa (Peter), Erin (Shay), Kendra (Bryce), Gabriel (Kassie); and eight beautiful great-grandchildren. Anna is also lovingly remembered by her brother Hans, other relatives and friends, and many who affectionately called her mother or Oma. Anna was born on February 12, 1935 in Schoneberg, South Russia. When she was two and a half years old, her father was taken by the KGB and they never saw him again. With her mother, and siblings, she fled an unstable political and religious climate, constantly moving through war torn regions, eventually immigrating to Paraguay and ultimately to Canada. It was in Paraguay that she met her future husband, Jacob. They married in Canada in 1958 and raised a family of four children in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Here they had a fresh new, beginning. Throughout Anna's life she faced many challenges and losses. She clung to her faith in Jesus and had the courage to live a life of gratefulness and love. Especially important to her were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There was nothing she wouldn't do for any of them. She was an example to her children and grandchildren, demonstrating love by cooking favourite meals, being interested in their lives and generously saying the words "I love you." Her love, expressed through words and actions, right up until the end, was remarkable. Her family is forever thankful to her and for her. A special and heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Donwood Manor. Your amazing love and care for our mother, and for us in the end, will never be forgotten. You are amazing people who made all the difference in this painful time of letting go. A funeral service followed by reception will be held at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018 with viewing 30 minutes prior to the service. Private family interment following reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Drive, Winnipeg MB R3T 5K9 or to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3.
