ALLAN JAMIESON It is with great sadness that the family of Allan Scott Jamieson announce his passing at Lake of the Woods Hospital in Kenora, ON, on August 18, 2018, after a brief battle with cancer. He peacefully passed away with the love of his life at his side holding his hand. He was born on November 10, 1938 in Winnipeg, MB. He was predeceased by his infant daughter Mary Ellen in 1961, his mother Doris (1988), his father Archie (1994), and his in-laws, Bones and Dorothy Race. Also, many other relatives and close friends. Allan will be forever remembered by his best friend and loving wife of 57 years, Merle (Race); his sisters, Arline (Roy) and Susan. He will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. After graduating from St. James Collegiate (where he excelled at basketball and later lacrosse) he started working at MTS as a mail boy. He retired after 38 years with a position as Manager of Customer Services. He was admired and well liked by his colleagues. After Allan and Merle retired they moved into the home he beautifully renovated located in Redditt, ON. Allan was always ready for an adventure; gliding, sailing, snowmobiling and last but not least, hitting the open road on his motorcycle. He and Merle had also been able to enjoy many memorable trips together. He was a big, gentle man with a great sense of humour and a wonderful talent for storytelling. He was popular and well loved by many. He was known by several different nicknames that had been affectionately given to him throughout his lifetime. His smile, laugh, personality and zest for life will be sorely missed. A Celebration of Life will be on September 15, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Redditt Community Club. We appreciate the kindness and professional care shown to Allan at the Lake of the Woods Hospital. A special thanks to Dr. Workman for all his care and concern through this difficult time. Donations may be made to the Palliative Care Program or Palliative Education, care of Lake Of The Woods District Hospital, 21 Sylvan St. W., Kenora, ON P9N 0E3 or a charity of choice. Alcock Funeral Home & Cremation Services (Highway 17 West Keewatin) in care of arrangements, 547-6000
