CHERYL LYNN MAINES (nee PLUMMER) 1954 - 2018 It is with tremendous sorrow that we announce the passing of Cheryl on August 22, 2018 at Concordia Hospital, after a short but brave battle with cancer. Cheryl is survived by her daughters, Tara Boon (Jason) and Darcie Maines; her mother Barbara Plummer; and sister-in-law Cathy Plummer (Gil). She is also survived by six grandchildren and several other relatives. She was predeceased by her father Stan Plummer in 1967 and brother Brad in 2008. Cheryl was born at Gilbert Plains, MB on February 27, 1954 and attended Tanner School. She moved to Winnipeg with her parents in 1964, attending Birchwood and Strathmillan schools before completing high school at Silver Heights Collegiate. She was employed at City Machinery for 18 years and then at Piston Ring Service for the past 23 years. Cheryl loved to travel, especially to sunny locations, the family cabin and to Edmonton to visit her daughters. She loved doing special things for her loved ones, especially her grandchildren. Special thanks to Dr. Darcy Johnson and the Oncology staff for their compassionate care. Respecting Cheryl's wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • So saddened to hear of Cheryl’s passing. We were close friends through senior high at Silver Heights Collegiate. I have many happy memories of Cheryl & our group of friends during that time. My thoughts are with her family & her lovely Mom Barb at this time. - Posted by: Wendy Cain (High school friend) on: Aug 29, 2018

  • Mrs. Plummer, Darcie, Tara and family, I had the good fortune to work with Cheryl at Piston Ring for over 20 years until I retired in 2015. Cheryl was a force unto her own, firm to deal with but always fair. I always thought that she was the “glue” who held the office together. Cheryl was a tremendous role model for a number of the company’s younger staff, and a terrific co-worker and friend. I will miss her deeply. Sincere condolences to all your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time. - Posted by: Jane Howe (Friend and co-worker) on: Aug 29, 2018
