SHARON ELIZABETH STOREY It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sharon Storey, on Thursday, August 23, 2018, at the Carman Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late, Bob Storey. She will be lovingly remembered by her two children - Diana and Roger Kissick, Scott and Lori Storey; four grandchildren - Jayme Lynn and Mitch Macdonald, Lisa and Dustin Dreger, Ryan Storey, Trevor Storey; and great-grandchildren - Deacon, Jenna and baby girl Dreger, due in September. Sharon was born to Walter and Lena Leatherdale, on June 12, 1938, at the family farm near Morden, MB. She and her brother Doug enjoyed large family gatherings with their Leatherdale, Gilligan, Orchard, Westrum and Thomson cousins. Her aunt Lil Greene was a favourite. Morden and Rosebank neighbours were important. Sharon married Bob Storey on September 6, 1958 in Rosebank, MB. They lived and farmed two miles north of Miami. Together they enjoyed following Scott's hockey, Diana's figure skating, country drives, going back and forth with friends, going to movies and Oldtimer hockey. Sharon loved having coffee in Miami at her mother, Lena's house, or at one of her aunts. Driving to Morden or Winkler to shop was a favourite pastime. In Sharon's later years, she moved into her mother's house in Miami. Morning coffee, attending the Miami United Church, Bingo, tending to her yard, trips to Morden/Winkler and having a drink of wine with neighbours, became her routine. She loved to visit her brother Doug and sister-in-law Louise, in Minneapolis, and to shop to her heart's content. Her recent 80th Birthday Party was a real celebration of her life. But, Sharon's greatest joy were her children and their families. All the holidays and everyone's birthdays were celebrated, and made special by Sharon. Stay-in-touch telephone calls kept everyone close. When her great-grandchildren were born, she repeatedly said "how did we get so lucky". Now it's her family and friend's turn to say, when they remember Sharon, "how did we get so lucky". Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma - we love and will miss you. You will live in our hearts forever. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., at the Miami Community Centre. Memorial donations may be made to the Miami Area Foundation. Doyle's Funeral Home in care of arrangements. www.doylesfuneralhome.ca
