VALENTINA ADAMOV (BELKIN) Our beloved mother, grandmother, baba, great-grandmother passed away peacefully on August 23, 2018. Mother was predeceased by her beloved husband, Eugene, in 2012; her son Alexander in 1975; her parents; two brothers, Peter and Paul; and her sister Marsha. She is survived by her sons, Nick (Sherey), Vladimir (Carol); four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mother was born on February 3, 1924 in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Mother and her family immigrated to Winnipeg in 1948. She primarily stayed at home and was dedicated to raising her three boys. She was very devoted, loving, caring, and supportive to her immediate family. At home she enjoyed knitting, painting, projects, and cooking. She spent summers at her cottage on the Lake of the Woods where she kept busy entertaining, picking blueberries, mushrooms, and swimming. She travelled extensively and made numerous trips to Europe, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and to Santa Barbara to spend time with friends. She was a lifetime member of the Holy Resurrection Church, a leading participant in the sisterhood, and member of the choir. Mother will be remembered for her love of family, generosity, her resilience and remarkable strength of spirit. A special thank you from the family to the 3rd floor nursing staff and healthcare aides at Poseidon Care, for their compassion, care, and kindness to our mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Resurrection Sisterhood. Prayers (Parastas) will be held on Sunday, August 26, at 4:00 p.m at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Funeral service will take place on Monday, August 27 at 10:00 a.m. also at the chapel with Fr. Raphael Vereshack officiating. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery.

  • Mrs. Adamov was a pillar of her church, and a rock for her family. Everyone loved her. She always had a smile for everyone, and was warm and hospitable, and so welcoming to all who entered her home, I recall her magnificent pickled, hand picked mushrooms, her sewing of vestments for the priests, the smell of fresh baking in her kitchen, and the pride she took in her children and grandchildren. Her harmonious marriage was envied by all: there was so much affection and camaraderie between Dr. E. and his devoted wife. Both were deeply spiritual people who were amazing role models for the congregation. I will always remember her laugh and her genuine greeting, her singing in the choir, and her tenderness with her grandchildren in particular. She made an indelible impression on me, and likely all who knew her. Vichnaya Pamyat! - Posted by: Merika Skirko (Friend of the family ) on: Aug 25, 2018
