EVELYN STAPLES August 19, 1929 - August 24, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Evelyn Gladys Staples (nee Rerick). Evelyn was born on August 19, 1929 to parents John and Susan Rerick (nee Theobald). Evelyn grew up in Elmwood and worked as a young woman at the Eaton's mail order department in downtown Winnipeg. She married Raymond Frederick Thomas Staples in September of 1955, and later worked for the Canada Revenue Agency. Evelyn and Ray led very full and active lives in the community of North Kildonan. Evelyn is survived by her sister Lilian Rerick, and by her two adult children, Clinton James Staples (Penny) and Jana Rae Stratford-Waterous. She is also mourned by grandchildren, Torin (Rylan Makela) and Thomas Staples, and by Brenna (Michael Kent) and Shayla Stratford (John Barrett). Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Ray, son-in-law Spencer Stratford, parents, John and Susan, brothers, John, Walter, Albert and George, and by her sister Dorothy. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 30 at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. at Henderson Highway. Reception to follow service, followed by interment at Glen Eden Cemetery.
