GLORIA JEAN BECKER May 24, 1930 - August 26, 2018 Quietly, late Sunday evening, August 26, Jean passed from this life to be with her beloved husband Elmer. Mom was born in Calder, Saskatchewan on May 24, 1930. Growing up she was very close to her father and helped him out in his blacksmith shop turning the crank on the blower. In her teens she met Elmer whom she would later marry in 1949. They immediately moved to Winnipeg just in time to experience the 1950 flood. In 1961 Elmer and Jean built their dream home in St. Vital where they resided raising their three children, Gary (Kim), Bruce (Alicia) and Heather (Bob). Mom had several jobs but her true passion was her family. She was ecstatic when she was blessed with seven grandchildren who she could dote on, Cheryl, Angela, Erica, Matthew, Justin, Kyle and Jeff. They kept her busy with sewing, crafting and school activities. Mom loved family get-togethers and would be cooking for days, she loved canning, crocheting and gardening. She was an avid gardener and would proudly let us all know when her tulips popped up through the snow every spring. Mom loved her flowers and would spend hours in her many gardens. Mom and Dad took two trips to Europe and two of their many passions during the winter months were bowling and playing cards till all hours of the morning with family and friends. Most recently the twinkle came back into Mom's eyes when she met her three great-grandchildren, Loic, Lucas and Ellie. Mom was recently predeceased by her husband Elmer in January, and her sister Ruth in April. She was the last remaining sibling in the Mack family, and is survived by her brother-in-law Herb, and numerous nieces and nephews. During the last 11 months, Mom resided at Vista Park Lodge where she received excellent Love and Care. In lieu of flowers, donations to Faith Lutheran Church would be appreciated. Celebration of Mom's life was held at Faith Lutheran Church on Thursday, August 30.
