JOYCE BRIDLE (nee HAGUE) March 25, 1928 - August 27, 2018 Peacefully Monday morning, Mom decided it was time to rest after 90 years of loving others with the strongest heart. Mom is now reunited with her parents, James and Elizabeth Hague, husband Wezer Bridle and brothers-in-law, Raymond and Charlie Bridle. Mom will be forever in the hearts of children, Charlie (Melanie, Jonathan and Carly, Nicholas and Natashia), Jim (Janice, Jenna, Jesse, Mason, Aaliyah, Maverick), Clancy (Debbie, Kate, Sam), Jeff (Janet), Jan (Ken), Calvin (Janette, Rachel, Thomas), and "adopted" son Phil. Also cherishing her memory are the Bridle Bandits #2, sister-in-law Ruth and #5 - #41. Mom grew up in Fort Rouge/Fort Garry areas and attended Kelvin High School. There she met Betty, Fran and Peggy who remained lifelong friends. Mom's love for sports showed while playing for Kelvin and was proud of having been a City Volleyball Champ. It was actually Mom who passed on her athletic ability and competitiveness to her children and grandchildren as she loved watching and commenting when we played. Mom worked for the Bank of Montreal, before meeting and marrying Wezer. Having been an only child she decided having a large family was her heart's desire. They started their family on Hethrington, again making many friends for life, especially the Gigliotti's. As their family grew they moved onto Maplewood where Mom lived until her passing. Mom's life was centered around family and friends. When Dad was on one of his various volleyball outings it was Mom who coached us through life. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy always attending their various activities. Even though it was a lot of work, family dinners were a big part of her life as gatherings brought her family closer to her (roast beef and hockey pucks always on the menu). Her true passions in life were the church and spending summers at Grand Beach. Mom worshipped at St. Alban's Church until its closure before finding a home with the St. Paul's congregation. She surpassed her two goals in life which were to reach 90 years of age and to spend as much time as possible at the cabin. She enjoyed spending the day in the soft, warm sand and ending the day watching the beautiful sunset off of Rocky Beach, with her dog by her side. During her many years at the beach Mom loved the beach gang and treasured the memories of the bike rallies, masquerades, card nights and socializing. Also, lasting memories were made at lady's nights with special friends Elaine, Terry and Mary. Family would like to thank the beach community who looked out for her every summer and for all the happy hours on the deck. A service will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 830 North Drive. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to St. Paul's Fort Garry for the "Celebrating Tomorrow Together" Fund. "Love you Gamgam!" "Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad"

  • Talking with Gail about Joyce's passing brought up all kinds of great memories from the past for her. All the years together at Grand Beach, the great dinners at Christmas time with all the beach friends and the endless card games. Joyce was a wonderful caring friend a strong lady and a great Mom to all her kids. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. Rest in peace Joyce. - Posted by: Gail Duplak, Mark & Debbie Balzar (Friends) on: Sep 08, 2018

  • A great lady and a great friend. Joyce will be missed by all of Grand Beach. We had some great trips to Europe and have many great memories. Our last trip was a European River Cruise and even though Joyce could not take part in everything she never complained. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Dianne Frost (Friend and travelling partner) on: Sep 05, 2018

  • We have lost one of God’s precious angels but one who will surely keep an eye & a prayer on those left behind. Most who know the Bridle family knew Aunt J was the backbone / the glue that kept the family together. Always behind the scenes of any gathering yet the one who brought so many together. The bearer of the title “dragonlady” I ask you who else would calmly put up with Wez’s shenanigans?? Aunt J would always lend an an ear to hear your troubles & when you left a weight would be lifted & a smile on your face. Gonna miss you 💋. Hallelujah your home - Posted by: Joan Mayberry (Niece) on: Sep 02, 2018

  • Our sincere condolences on the loss of a truly gracious and loving lady. She was a strong, steady and calm presence in the midst of every wonderfully chaotic summer at the cottage. She will be missed. - Posted by: Lori Mckenzie (Redman) (Beach neighbour) on: Sep 02, 2018

  • Mrs. Bridle was a part of my family's life at Grand Beach; a dear friend of my parents Bruce and Margaret Hill, and a go to for us kids. If ever we couldn't find Mom, we went to Mrs. Bridle, a mom to our group of kids at Grand Beach. A constant site at Grand Beach was Mrs. Bridle and her troupe heading to the front beach, all in row. Each child who could walk was carrying something. They were always the first ones there and you always looked for them when you went down and set up the chairs next to them. Joyce always had a smile and twinkling eyes, and a laugh you loved to hear. She will always be cherished and dearly missed. RIP Mrs. Bridle. - Posted by: Katherine Campbell (Friend) on: Sep 02, 2018

  • So sorry to hear of Joyce's passing. Such wonderful memories of this kind and caring woman. Memories from chatting with her while hauling water from 4th Avenue to our cabin on 3rd, help preparing my parents and Joyce and Wezer along with their partners in crime for the masquerade each year and pre bike rally party. She certainly was an amazing woman with a smile I will always remember. My thoughts and prayers to her entire family. May you rest in peace Joyce. - Posted by: Jane Hill (Family friend) on: Sep 02, 2018

  • I am sorry to read of Joyce's passing. I thought she was an absolutely beautiful person. I recall seeing her around the neighbourhood, at the beach and at St. Albans, most often with a welcoming smile. My mother, Rene Fisher, will be greeting her in heaven, I am sure! - Posted by: Joan monson (Friend) on: Sep 01, 2018
