RUTH L. MCKENZIE (nee POKRANT) Our beloved Mom, Nan/Grandma and Great-Grandma died peacefully, with love and family surrounding her, on Thursday, August 30, 2018, at the age of 89. She was born, April 21, 1929 in Rosenfeld, MB to Fredrick and Helena Pokrant. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Don in 2011, granddaughter Märit in 2013, and brother Ed (Irene) and sister Vi (and Henry). She will be dearly missed by her children, Sandy (Mark), Bruce (Susan), Dean (Melanie) and Lyle (Lori); 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren that were her joy and delight; as well as her brothers, Lawrence (Gladys), Elmer (Verna); and many other family and friends. Ruth came to Winnipeg as a young woman to pursue a career, but soon became a devoted spouse, mother and homemaker, sacrificing much for the love of her family. She was a person of deep commitment and faith, and gave us gifts of thoughtfulness, caring and laughter for which we are all very grateful. We commend her to God trusting that she now enjoys everlasting peace and joy. A funeral to honour Ruth will be held on Thursday, September 6, 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberly Ave. In place of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church and or CLWR (Canadian Lutheran World Relief).
