Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD DONALD STREILEIN January 5, 1939 - August 21, 2018 Surrounded by the love of his family, Don passed away peacefully on August 21, 2018, at Seven Oaks Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Jakob and Mary Streilein; brothers, Jack (Trudy), George (Ruth), Peter, Henry, Samuel (Daphne); sisters, Susan Krushel (Herman), Mary Bodnar (John); brother-in-law Eric Schultz; and in-laws, Peter and Esther Giannone. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Linda; children, Christopher (Jamie) and Jennifer; grandchildren, Keaton and Elliot; brother Edward (Johanna); sister Erna Schultz; sister-in-law Anne Streilein, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Don never made it difficult to get to know him or to become close to him because of his giving, gentle nature. He exemplified generosity and strength in every aspect of his life. Don was committed to his family, and a faithful servant of the Lord and to St. Luke's Zion Lutheran Church. No task was too big or too small to help others. He did it with love, grace and dignity, and always a quiet, helping hand. Don worked in the printing industry for 45 years in many capacities. He enjoyed volunteering at the church food bank, served on church council, and played his guitar with friends at Rockwood, and many personal care homes. From a young age, Don had a love for music. He taught himself to play guitar, spending his life playing in different groups and entertaining his family and friends at birthday parties and gatherings. Don took pride in his yard. He loved cutting the grass and making sure it was neat and tidy. Being at home was where Don was happiest. He was not much of a traveller because in his heart he had everything he needed - his family around him, delicious meals and a beautiful home. Don cherished Linda and children, Christopher, his wife, Jamie, and Jennifer. He was very proud of their accomplishments, never hesitating to tell them so, along with how much he loved them. His two, little grandsons, Keaton and Elliot, were a blessing to him, bringing even more joy to his heart. Don loved his family dearly. He was a guiding light and anchor for many who shared his love. A kind, generous and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Thank you to Dr. Kristin Heinrichs and her staff, 5th floor: Units three and seven of Seven Oaks Hospital and Pastor Lynne Hutchison for their kind and respectful care. Cremation and a private family interment have taken place at Glen Eden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Don may be made to Luther Home, 1081 Andrews Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2V 2G9. "May the work I have done speak for me. Till we meet again, Don / Dad / Grandpa. God has you in His keeping. We have your love with us forever."

Paul and I want to extend our sincere sympathies to you Linda and your family. This tribute says it all and for those of us who are lucky enough to have known him we know what a caring and really decent man he was. For him to reach out to people on a voluntary basis made him a true humanitarian and am sure that this was much appreciated and brought smiles to may faces. Wishing you strength to cope with this great loss and glad you have your faith to sustain you. Blessings. - Posted by: Connie and Paul Hebert (friends) on: Sep 02, 2018
