Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMILDRED FEDUNIW (nee TRUS) With family by her side, Mildred passed away peacefully on August 31, 2018. She will be forever in the hearts of her husband Leon, of 61 years; her sister Bernice (Bob); her children, Tim (Donna), Cindy (Dominic) and Nancy; her grandchildren, Lindsay (Dale), Christopher (Lesley), Ashley (Joe), Samantha (Angel) and Allee; and great-grandchildren, Isabell and Kataleya. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Mary Trus. Mom was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on December 19, 1936. She was sweet, sarcastic, gentle, stubborn, fun and sassy. Mildred was a beautiful person inside and out with a heart of gold. Mom made the best peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies. She had a special relationship with each of us and we all have precious memories to hold in our hearts of our time spent with her. Mom and Dad took us on many road trips throughout Canada and the US...many of them to California to visit Dad's brothers, Terry (Ann) and Ed (Betty). Their travels with us and on their own included Mexico, the Caribbean, Cuba, Hawaii, South America and the Panama Canal. Mildred had Alzheimer's and spent the last three years at Deer Lodge Centre. Dad always had fresh red carnations in her room and stayed with her for several quality hours every day. They would often sit under the olive tree near the front entrance holding hands. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Deer Lodge Centre, Tower 3 West for the wonderful, compassionate care and kindness. You are all angels! In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Deer Lodge Centre or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. A celebration of Mildred's life will be held on Thursday, September 6 at 7:00 p.m., Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave., officiated by Father Peter Chorney. Dear Leon, My deepest condolences on the loss of your dear Mildred. My memories of her go back to our childhood in Winnipeg and the crazy things we did as kids in the “North End”, hanging around the rail tracks, building little fires for “roasting” potatoes and sitting on street curbs discussing all things so important to children. Those activities grew into beach days and boys and school until she met you. I know her life with you was full and fulfilling with the warmth of family and friends and all that the world has to offer. May you be comforted by these memories.
