RONALD BRUCE WEIK Ronald Bruce Weik passed away peacefully on September 2, 2018. He was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Charles Weik of Arborg, brother Frederick, and sister Deanna. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sharon; daughter Robyn Weik (Tyler Rink) and her children, Alyssa, Braeden, Payton and Emma; son William (Billy) Weik and his children, Tristyn and Jasmine. He is also survived by his stepsons, Ian Schiller (Brenda), their children, Mary Jane, Cathlyne, Jonathon, Olivia and Christoper, and Darcy Schiller (Carla) and their children, Raina and Thora. Ron will also be fondly remembered by his siblings, Herman Weik (Inga), Ruth Deneka, Albert Weik (Barb), Judy Fraser, Raymond Weik (Mavis) and Donna Gislason (Leslie). As well Uncle Ronnie had many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by Foster and many friends. Born August 11, 1945 in Arborg, MB, Ron was the fifth child in a family of nine. He grew up on the family farm in the Homer community where he attended a one room schoolhouse until grade 8. He attended high school in Arborg and then was off to the big city to attend the University of Manitoba where he obtained a degree in Agriculture. From there he took his first job with Hedlin and Menzies in Winnipeg but after a short time there the prairies called and he moved to Regina to work for Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. Ron spent 32 years with them in a variety of positions and through a variety of changing times. While he loved his career with the Wheat Pool, after 32 years he decided to "retire". He took the weekend off and on Monday went to work for FP Genetics where he spent the next 12 years until he decided to really retire in December 2017. Ron was recognized on several occasions for his hard work and dedication to the seed industry and recently received honorary life memberships from the Saskatchewan Seed Growers Association and the Canadian Seed Trade Association. While Ron had a wonderful career and enjoyed his work immensely, his greatest joy was found in his grandchildren. Their pictures could be found wherever he was, in his wallet, at home and at work. And he spoke of them whenever given an opportunity! They would like to say thank you to their grandpa for his tireless support and faith in their abilities. Known as a hard and conscientious worker, beginning on the farm and until he retired, Ron will be best remembered by his family for his generosity. He never failed to provide a generous gift to his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews on their special occasions. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ron's name to a charity of your choice. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 6 at 10:00 a.m. at the Regina Funeral Home, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina with Rev. Jerry Burkowsky officiating.
