VIOLET ALICE THOMSEN March 28, 1939 September 4, 2018 It is with great sadness we say goodbye to our dear Mom, Amma, Long Amma, Aunty and friend, Violet Thomsen, at the Arborg Hospital, at the age of 79 years. Mom is survived by her daughter Margo (Brian); son Todd (Cynthia); daughter-in-law Laurie; grandchildren, Matthew, Brent, Mark, Malorie, Nathan, Drew, Brooke and great-grandson Emmet. She also leaves to mourn her sister Barb Halyk; sister-in-law Sylvia Renaud; sister-in-law Rose Kleb; brother-in-law Buck Kleb, and numerous nieces and nephews who were proud to call her Aunty. Mom was predeceased by her husband Marus; sons, Dwayne and Marlowe; granddaughters, Jessica Dawn and Jamie Lynn. Violet was born and raised in Riverton, MB, she was married for 51 years prior to Dad's passing. Mom was generous and giving to her family, she loved having them to visit and spoiled her grandchildren to no end. More recently having her great-grandson Emmet come to visit brought her such happiness. Prior to becoming ill, Mom was an avid gardener, she loved her flowers and would spend hours in her gardens. She enjoyed watching her grandsons play hockey and granddaughters volleyball. Mom had a full life, she was able to travel, was blessed with many friends, and will be remembered for her wicked sense of humour. We will always cherish our memories of Mom, she will be missed greatly. A special thank you to all of the staff at the Arborg Personal Care Home, it was comforting to know she was well cared for. As per Mom's wishes, a private interment will take place at a later date. Flowers are greatfully declined and donations may be made to Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church. VIOLET ALICE THOMSEN Peacefully, on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the Arborg Personal Care Home, Violet Thomsen, aged 79 years of Riverton, MB, beloved wife of the late Marus Thomsen, passed away. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. Full obituary to follow in Saturday's edition of the Free Press.
