Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORRAINE ANDERSON November 30, 1927 - August 26, 2018 Peacefully at her home, Lorraine Anderson (née Algate), of Winnipeg, passed away the evening of August 26, 2018, at the age of 90 years. She was predeceased by her parents, William Lorne and Ella May (née Clark) Algate, late of Vancouver, BC and husband Rudolph (Rudy) Anderson, of Winnipeg. Lorraine is survived by her sister Helen McPherson (Algate); sons, Paul (Kathie) and Lorne (Martha Chuchman); and grandchildren, Chris, Marnie, Brett Anderson; Danylo and Alexandra Anderson. Lorraine was born in Pine Falls, MB and grew up with her parents and sister in Flin Flon and Virden, moving to Winnipeg in her high school years. She attended Kelvin High School and United College, where she excelled in track and field and basketball. While playing basketball at United College, she met a strapping young veteran who coached the women's team. Courtship and marriage to Rudy Anderson followed, producing sons, Paul and Lorne and five grandchildren. In her prime, Lorraine was an avid golfer, curler and swimmer. She was a doting grandparent, adopted by the extended Chuchman clan as grandmother. She was a keen follower of her grandchildren's growth and progress; providing care and sleepovers when young. Latterly, she was an enthusiastic supporter of the Bison Women's Hockey team and the on-ice exploits of granddaughter Alexandra. A special thanks to all the staff at Shaftesbury Park Retirement Residence, where Mom spent her last six years, for the comfort and service provided. A special thanks to Esther Daga and Genalyn Sapida of Esther's group, for their compassionate care provided to Mom over the last three years. Cremation has taken place. An informal memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In The Park," 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
