HELEN BAZILEWICH (WALASHEK)
Date of Passing: Sep 05, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN BAZILEWICH (nee WALASHEK) It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Helen Bazilewich (nee Walashek) at age 93 on September 5, 2018, with her family by her side. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Shirley Houlahan, son Peter (Sandra), son Henry (Tina), daughter-in-law- Karen; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her husband John, son Larry, son-in-law Gerald Houlahan, granddaughter Tannis Bazilewich, parents, Andrew and Karoline Walashek, and her three sisters and three brothers. Mom was born in Broad Valley, Manitoba. She married Dad in 1941, and farmed in Hamrlik, Manitoba for most of her life. Mom was hard-working, kind, and a great hostess to all who dropped in to visit. Mom made the best perogies, cabbage rolls, chicken soup and borscht. She was always proud to be a wife and a mother and worked hard beside her husband to make a good life during very hard times. Mom enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they kept her very busy with all their activities. She had a profound impact on the lives of the many people who called her Baba, showing them love and compassion and teaching them the value of hard work, but also showing them balance; she always liked to watch her afternoon "stories" on TV. She loved gardening, and always put in a big vegetable garden and made pickles, jams, and jellies. She enjoyed playing cards and going to bingo with friends, and social occasions like weddings would always find her on the dance floor. To pass the long winter days she would knit, and crochet throws to give to family, so they would feel surrounded by her love. Mom cherished the time spent with family and friends. A special thank you to staff at Charleswood Care Centre for the compassionate care and attention given to Mom during her stay. "The more beautiful and full the remembrances, the more difficult the separation." Vichnaya Pamyat A funeral service will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 11 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 4588 Roblin Blvd., Winnipeg, Manitoba. Interment will follow at Hamrlik Community Cemetery, Poplarfield, Manitoba, with the Reverend Monsignor Maurice Comeault officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or a charity of your choice. When I lived with Helen and John for a year in my earlier years with Trevor as a young child, they taught me soooo much. Her quick wit and laugh out loud character filled my life with fond memories. John too was a steadfast hard worker that took time out to pause and reflect on the meaning of things, he taught me that. Helen was the type of joy you don't want to let go off, and a big thank you for making Terence grow so fast all in one short summer that she has left me one more lesson of her great love for her grand kids. Baba is a kind spirit, don't let go of that. It is because of her that I still have the best Polish friends (Don & Anna Marie) that share my life with my younger boys, she influenced me greatly. Her heart would melt seeing her grand kids, her boyshu, she loved, she loved what more is there to life? It's recently that many books from Dr. Don Colbert has discovered the cure, yes cure for Alzheimers. Dr. Don and Mary Colbert have set up 2 practices, one in Florida the other in Texas. As the years went by and Helen declined we are all affected and I pause to share recent books by Dr. Don Colbert, Let Food Be Your Medicine, and The Keto Zone Diet. His multitude of travels around the world spending millions to find the answers leaves me breathless for his efforts as a Christian man finding the cure lead by the Holy Spirit. Baba, I wished that the answers would have come to me sooner to share with you. My condolences to family and friends who cherish all that she still is, changing address to heaven from Glory to Glory. We shall see you soon, love ya. Noella - Posted by: Noella Bernier Rudge (daughter in law) on: Sep 22, 2018
