VIOLET MARY THURSTON (CARLSON) Our beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully, September 6, 2018, with her family by her side, after a long courageous fight with cancer and COPD. Mom was predeceased by her husband, her parents, siblings and her dog Alfie. Mom will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her three children, Dwayne (Jill), Kelly (Darryl) and Penny (Steve); and four grandchildren, Amber, Mandy, Kristin and Jennifer. Violet was born on September 29, 1942, in Minnedosa, MB, where she grew up and married Ed. The family moved to Winnipeg in the early 1970s. Mom spent her working life at Rockwood AN & AF Unit 303 until her retirement. She was very devoted, loving, caring and supportive to her family. Mom's proudest moment was becoming a grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her cats. Our mother and grandmother will be remembered for her generosity, resilience, her remarkable strength through her battle with cancer, and her love for her family. A special thank you from the family to the Case Coordinator and nurses at palliative care and the ILA's from the Independent Living Resource Centre. At Violet's request, there will be no funeral. The family will be having a private gathering to celebrate her life. Violet will be laid to rest with her late husband, and parents at the Minnedosa Cemetery.
