Date of Passing: Sep 08, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHARON BUFFIE (nee TELFORD) It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Sharon Buffie on September 8, 2018 at the age of 72. Sharon was predeceased by her father Bill Telford and first husband John Dudar. Left to cherish and honour her memory are her beloved husband of 46 years, Carl; daughter Susan; son Shaun (Carina); grandchildren, Hayley, Finn and Jasper; mother Stella; siblings, Patricia (Stan), Bill (Lorna) and Jane (Doug); a niece and five nephews; and many dear friends. Sharon grew up in the North End of Winnipeg and attended Sisler High School. A self-professed shy girl, Sharon lived her life facing her fears and persevering through times of adversity. She married, had her firstborn and was widowed by the age of 23. Three years later she had met and married Carl, the love of her life. Together, they built a beautiful life and added a second child to the family. Sharon had a very strong work ethic. Throughout her life, she worked at many companies, including The Hudson Bay Company and Eaton's, but spent the bulk of her career as a sales representative for Procter & Gamble. Sharon was also a member and past president of the St. Boniface, Norwood, St. Vital Kinette Club. Retired young and with a passion for cooking, Sharon went back to school at the age of 50 and completed the Culinary Arts Program at Red River College. After graduation, she worked in the kitchens of the Holiday Inn South and the former Le Beaujolais restaurant before deciding to start her own business, Bon Appétit, as a personal chef. Sharon finished her career working at Sears and The Cottager magazine. Sharon had a warm smile, infectious laugh, generous heart, and was thoughtful and kind to everyone. She had many interests and passions such as curling, knitting, reading, word puzzles, bridge, gardening, dancing, travelling, spending time at the family cottage at Gull Lake, and of course, Tim Hortons' coffee. Later in life, she faced her fear of heights to try zip lining and hot air balloon rides. Her greatest love was spending time with family and friends, entertaining and cooking for her guests - she would spend weeks planning the menu in advance. Sharon was a truly special person and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank the surgeons, nurses and aides who all took great, compassionate care of her at the Health Sciences Centre. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Although it's been many years since our paths crossed, we were so sorry to read of Sharon's passing. Meeting you both back in the 70's through the Kinsmen & Kinette Clubs led to many fun filled events and then to our crazy theme dinner clubs with Al & Hilda - the Moroccan dinner on Pine Bluff was memorable! Treasure all your special memories. Sincerely Penny & Terry Webber - Posted by: Penny & Terry Webber (Old Friends) on: Sep 20, 2018

Our deepest sympathies and condolences to Carl and family. We were shocked to hear the news after so recently visiting with Sharon at Gull Lake this summer. Sharon was a dear friend to our family at Gull Lake and had a wonderful 30 year friendship with my Mom Erma. Many summer mornings at Gull Lake started with Erma and Sharon coffee parties that always included banter, the latest gossip and lots of laughter. Erma always thought of Sharon as a dear friend and included Sharon & Carl in our family milestone events. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and may you find strength in the memories of a wonderful life together. - Posted by: Erma Hotchkiss, Wayne Hotchkiss, Charlene Threatful, Grace & Lauren Hotchkiss (Friend) on: Sep 18, 2018

Carl, Mrs. Telford & families: so sorry for the loss of your daughter, sister, wife, Mom, Grandma & Aunt. The Telfords lived next door to my ex-inlaws, and attended St. Barnabas at the end of the block. I knew the family from the neighbourhood, the church, and the kids through our mutual high school, Sisler, although Sharon was a few years ahead of me in school. As adults, I'd meet Sharon or Carl 'over the fence', while each of us were visiting on Magnus Avenue, or attending local events. Loss is tough, without a doubt. May your wonderful memories of Sharon keep you warm and remembering on cool nights. - Posted by: Linda (Weremiuk) Henderson (School & Neighbourhood acquaintance) on: Sep 18, 2018

Extending heartfelt sympathy to the Telford family on Sharon's passing. Many years have passed since the Telford family moved away from the old neighbourhood. Now very sad to see that Sharon passed away suddenly. Thank you for sharing this beautiful tribute. Ollie Carlson & Lynda Ruban - Posted by: Lynda Ruban (Neighbour on Magnus Avenue) on: Sep 17, 2018
