Finnie, retired, passed away unexpectedly on September 4, 2018 at his residence in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 73. David is survived by his sister Judith (Adrien) Lozinsky; his fiancée Rita "Tori" Rohman; his two children, Lorelee and James (Rachel) Finnie; his ten grandchildren, two stepdaughters and seven stepgrandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, and one sister Barbara Ostapowich. David was born on September 1, 1945 to Nora and Arthur Finnie. David served 28 years in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Lord Strathcona and then remustered as a vehicle tech because he said that "there were no jobs on civi-street for tank drivers". David married Wendy Finnie (Scales) in October of 1970 and were together for 31 years. David was a man of strong work ethic who loved spending time with family and friends on various holidays and many fishing excursions. He was a great encouragement to his family and friends. David was accomplished in all that he set out to do. As an avid curler he participated in various curling bonspiels in Canada and Germany. A private Visitation / Celebration of Life was held on September 6, 2018 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will take place at a later date in Kamsack, Saskatchewan. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Last Post Fund in his memory. Information on the Interment will be published at a later date.
