He is also survived by his brothers, Peter, Mike; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Anne Kyrzyk (Peter), Adam Chubey (Claudette), Walter Chubey (Jan), Luba Chubey and numerous extended family and friends. Walter was predeceased by his parents, William and Michalena Storoschuk; in-laws, John and Helen Chubey; brother in-law Peter Chubey and sister in-law Kay Storoschuk. The family wishes to express their thanks to the home care staff as well as the doctors and nurses at SRHC who provided so much compassion and care to Walter and family. They would also like to thank the numerous extended family and friends that supported them during this difficult time. Walter was born and raised in the farming community of Gardenton, Manitoba. After finishing high school, he spent a couple of years on the family farm and then moved to Winnipeg. In Winnipeg, he worked at the Hudson Bay Company and at Yetman's until 1969, when he relocated his family to Selkirk and started his career with Manitoba Hydro, until he retired in 1996. Walter's passions were hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with family. We are grateful that he was able to enjoy his passion of gardening and spending time with his family while still being in the comforts of his home. His children are very grateful to their mother who made this possible. Family and friends are invited to attend a service in Walter's memory on Monday, September 24 at 3:00 p.m. at the Gilbart Funeral Home, located at 309 Eveline St. in Selkirk. Private Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined and if so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
