JANE MARY (JENNY) PARK With great sadness the Park family announced the death of their beloved Jane Mary (Jenny) Park. It was Jenny's wish to have one last summer in Matlock and as the weather cooled and the leaves started to turn she died at home in Matlock, Manitoba on September 15, 2018, with her family by her side. She was raised in a warm and loving home and had great memories of the resourcefulness and strong faith displayed by her parents. She was born in Matlock as the beloved daughter of the late Jane Mary (Smith) and Gilbert Harper. Her brothers, sisters and their families loved Jenny and in turn Jenny loved them. She will be deeply missed by her brothers, Clifford, Victor, Robert and Gilbert and their families. She was predeceased by siblings, Alex, Laura, Walter and Lawrence - all in childhood and by Anne, Donald, Ethel and Wilfred. In 1943 Jenny married Edgar Ross Park and upon Edgar's return from the Second World War they began their family raising Leonard (Millie), Linda, Edward "Ted", Wendy (Robert Phillips), Dean and Richard. They also welcomed Alvin and Jeffrey Houston to their home in addition to several foster children. When Edgar's stepbrothers Jerry and Doug Favell married they began a tradition of visiting and celebrating with their families. As her children married she welcomed her son-in-law Robert Phillips and daughters-in-law, Beverly, Dawn and Millie with enthusiasm. Jenny provided many happy family celebrations and gatherings. She delighted in each new baby and enjoyed the arrival of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jennifer (her late husband Carlos Lopez and their children, Zaya, Jade and Sage), Jordon (his wife Erin and their children, Aubrie and Jaxen), Emily, Hope (her husband Nick Rulen and their children, Alexis, Roxanne and Munroe), Christian "Casey", Sarah "Vesper", Misty, Teagan and Keenan. Following the death of her husband Edgar, Jenny worked through her grief by participating in community and church activities. The friends she found along the way were a source of support and joy. Jenny mourned the passing of her beloved daughter Linda with courage and grace. The loss of her son Richard was a difficult time for her and she received tremendous support from friends and the community. Jenny always knew that her goal was to be a homemaker. She learned from the best as she watched her mother produce daily miracles of cleaning, cooking and sewing. She had fond memories of shepherding her younger brothers through swimming, baseball games and ice cream. She was confirmed in the Anglican Church and always had a strong faith and believed in the power of prayer. She always maintained a clean and loving home and was usually humming a hymn while she went about her daily activities. The ice cream trips were an enduring habit and she became known as "ice cream grandma". The family are very grateful for Dr. R. R. Lindenschmidt, family, friends, neighbours and community members for their help as Jenny enjoyed her remaining days at her home in Matlock. In lieu of flowers, we hope that people will consider making a donation to Robinson Spur Cemetery or any children's charity. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018, in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB, at 1:30 p.m. Condolences, pictures and videos may be left on her tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
