Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHENRY (HARRY) RANDALL August 3, 1938 - September 17, 2018 Peacefully, surrounded by love, our dad, Harry, passed away Monday morning, September 17, 2018 at the Health Sciences Centre. As heartbroken as we are we take solace in knowing he is with Mom, Mil, once again, who we lost Monday evening, August 15, 2016. Dad will forever be remembered and greatly missed by his children, Jacquie (Carl), Eleanor (Brian), Frank and Tara (Mark), daughter-in-law Sherry, his grandchildren, John-Luke, Marcus, Ford, David and Amber, his great-grandsons, James and Tobias; his sister Jean, and brother-in-law Les (Sara). He also leaves to mourn many loving and cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is also missed by his fur buddy Bright Eyes. Dad and Mom met May 30, 1961 when Dad was asked to drive her and our grandmothers home from church. It was love at first sight. They were married December 2, 1961 at Gordon United Church and enjoyed a loving 54 years together. They were inseparable. Dad's career started at Shoemaker Mackenzie completing his Electrical Apprenticeship and obtaining his Red Seal in 1960. He spent his spare time alongside his best friend and fellow electrician and firefighter Frank Deeley. Together they were Arcs & Sparks and did electrical work across Winnipeg. He then started with the Winnipeg Fire Department December 1, 1961. He was promoted to Fire Prevention Officer on October 3, 1982, further promoted to Senior Fire Prevention Officer on August 5, 1991. He became Assistant Chief of Fire Prevention on March 8, 1992. On January 18, 1998 he retired after 36 years. He was proud to be a firefighter and served with honour. Dad and Mom cherished family and their world centered around us. We are so blessed to have had such loving parents. A more generous, loving man you won't meet. We grew up in a small house in Elmwood, the same house that Dad had grown up in. Every holiday and birthday was a celebration and even if Dad had to work he would do everything he could to make it a special occasion. Winters were spent skating, snowball fights, snowman building and tobogganing. Summers were spent at our family cottages at Winnipeg Beach and Malachi, ON. Many amazing and cherished memories were made at both places. Family to Mom and Dad also included our cousins, Les and Guy who grew up with us like brothers and our Grandma Lala, Uncle Les, Aunt Louise and Aunt Eleanor were always a part of our world. Dad did not like to travel; his farthest trek was to Toronto. Home was where his heart was. He did like to keep busy though and was always on the go. If he was in one place too long he would say he was getting "roots" and then "Tally-ho" it was time to leave. We will deeply miss our Hero. Dad you will always be in our hearts. A Celebration of Life for both Mom and Dad will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). Special thanks to Chaplain Mark Young for being by our side. Gifts of flowers can be sent to Neil Bardal Funeral Centre or donations can be made to the Firefighters Burn Fund or The Winnipeg Humane Society. Harry was Station 2's aerial driver when I started in the North End. We tramped a lot of the same ashes over the next couple of years until I got moved out of the North End. I ran into him a few times after that but not often. I remember him as a good firefighter. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Scott Miner (Collegue) on: Sep 26, 2018
