NORMAN V. CRAWFORD Norman V. (Biz) Crawford, aged 85, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully September 22, 2018 with loved ones by his side. Norman was born in Sydney, NS and raised on the Whitney Pier by his mother and father, Bismarck and Georgina Crawford, along with his four brothers. As a youth, Biz was very athletic, enjoying many team sports; his favourites being hockey, baseball and track. Following high school, he was a teacher until the Air Force came to town to recruit. His dreams of being a pilot drew him into the military, where he served his country 22 for years with the RCAF, retiring in 1975. Biz raised his family in Winnipeg, where he remained for the rest of his life. An avid audiophile, fisherman and golfer, Biz enjoyed family time above all else. He rediscovered his faith in his early 50s, having served his Lord as deacon and treasurer of the Pilgrim Baptist Church, where he worshipped for over 30 years. He was predeceased by his father Bismarck and his mother Georgina Cambridge, stepfather Arthur Cambridge, and brothers, George, Percy (Spyder) and Carl (Campy) Crawford. Biz is survived by his brother Kenneth Crawford, daughter Debbie Madden, son Todd Crawford, daughter Janice Crawford (Steve), grandson Scott Crawford, many cousins along with numerous nieces and nephews who viewed him as the family patriarch. The family would like to thank the staff of the third and fifth floors of the Grace Hospital. "Who you are is wonderful, what you do is important". A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 2018 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Norman's name. • My deepest condolences Janice and Todd, your dad was a wonderful man and although we lived provinces apart I fondly remember his humour and kindness in phone conversations when I would call with updates on Nanny Walker.
