Kim was born on December 20, 1956, in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, and was a lifelong resident of Manitoba. She worked at Manitoba Telecom Services for over 33 years, where she made many lifelong friends that she enjoyed curling, camping and socializing with, as well as recently enjoying a new group of friends during her winters down south in Arizona after she retired. Kim is survived by her husband of 39 years, Ed Borchardt; brother Greg Caister, in Red Deer, Alberta; mother-in-law Marvel Borchardt; in-laws, Dan and Janice Borchardt; two nephew in-laws, Kirk Borchardt and Shane (Kaylie) Borchardt; one niece in-law Amanda Borchardt; and very close friends, Cheryl and Bill, and Wanda and Grant, in Winnipeg, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in Manitoba and western Canada. Kim is predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Estelle Caister, from Portage La Prairie, MB. Thank you to all the staff at Kin Place in Oakbank who so lovingly and gently took care of Kim recently. Also, a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, social workers and speech therapist that were so considerate and understanding when assisting Kim with her concluding step in life. Cremation has taken place, and at Kim's request, there will be no service. Flowers are gratefully declined. If anyone wishes, donations can be made to the Kin Place Personal Care Home, in Oakbank, Manitoba, in memory of Kim. Condolences may be left at seasonsfunerals.ca
