Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKENNETH GLENN PHILIPCHUK January 25, 1954 - October 10, 2018 It is with great sadness, after a courageous battle with cancer, the family of Ken Philipchuk announce his passing the morning of Wednesday, October 10, 2018. Ken is survived by his wife Deborah, of 42 years; and their two children, son Travis and daughter Melissa (Scott); along with his three grandsons, Dylan, Ethan and Zack. He is also survived by two sisters, Arlene (Glen) and Val (Tommy); and brother-in-law Albert Sorokowski, along with their families. Ken was predeceased by his daughter Joanna, sister Georgina Sorokowski and parents, Peter and Sophie Philipchuk. Ken was born January 25, 1954, where he grew up in Winnipeg, MB. He married the love of his life, Deborah, on February 7, 1976. Soon after they moved to Stonewall, MB, where they raised their family and have remained to this day. As a young man, Ken joined Corrections Canada where he had an interesting career as a correctional officer at Stony Mountain Penitentiary. After being forced to retire early due to a car accident, Ken spent his days enjoying the three things he loved most in life, his family, his pets and his lawn and depending on the day, not necessarily in that order. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the Stonewall Legion, 459 Main Street, Stonewall, MB at 4:00 p.m. In accordance with Ken's wishes, he asks that people come in casual attire and no ties. In lieu of flowers, Ken asks that donations be made to the Stonewall Hospital Palliative Care Unit or the Wheels of Hope (Health Sciences Centre Cancer Volunteer Driver Program). I trained with Ken in Edmonton during the summer of 1975. We had many laughs & good times. In fact, we got matching tattoos I also remember us pushing a Mini almost all the way from the Perimeter to Stonewall. Thanks Ken for many great memories.
