JAMES ANTHONY DOLA May 20, 1955 - October 13, 2018 The family is devastated to announce the passing of our husband, father, gigi, brother, uncle, son, nephew, cousin and friend on October 13, 2018. Jim was surrounded by his loving family when he left us. Jim was born in Gimli, Manitoba on May 20, 1955. He was the fourth of six sons born to William and Ann Dola. He will be fondly remembered by his wife, Yvonne, daughters, Janie (Derek), Rebecca, and his grandchildren, Kylie, Marisa and Brenden, his brothers, Wayne (Jackie), Gary (Linda), Richard, Perry (Janis) and Kelvin, his brothers-in-law, Michael (Darlene), Larry (Mimi), Archie and Tim, his father-in-law Archie (Lynda), his 17 nephews and nieces and their families. Jim grew up in the Pleasant Home district and attended Plum Ridge School. He then attended Teulon Collegiate. Jim worked as an upholsterer in Winnipeg for a few years. He then worked for many years for Interlake Potato Farm. He also was employed at CP Rail. The job he loved though was working for his brothers at Dola Bros. After Jim married Yvonne, they lived in a trailer close to Winnipeg Beach. After six years, they moved to Teulon where they lived for the past 34 years. Jim was a hardworking and patient man who loved to spend time with his family, especially his "Little Buba, Kylie". He was a handyman and did all of his own house renovations. He loved to tinker on vehicles. Jim loved his community and volunteered for many committees over the years. He was with the Teulon Rockwood Fire Department for 13 years. He set up the stage for the Veselka Dance Club for 10 years. He was on Town Council for 16 years. He played co-ed baseball for 35 years. He coached girls softball for years. He thought nothing of showing up with his tools to help a friend build or fix anything. In the last few years Jim took on a new sport of golf. He loved to play a round and then to sit around the campfire and visit with everyone. The family is asking you to help celebrate Jim's life by wearing your favourite sport gear. He loved slo-pitch, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, curling, golfing, tractor pulling, Toronto Blue Jays and the Winnipeg Jets. The celebration of Jim's life will take place on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Teulon Rockwood Centennial Centre at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba would be appreciated. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital (especially in the CancerCare Department) for the compassionate care provided. Pallbearers are Wayne Dola, Garry Dola, Rick Dola, Perry Dola, Kelvin Dola and Mike Walsh. Honorary Pallbearers: Teulon Rockwood Fire Department Volunteers Ken Loehmer Funeral Services 204-886-0404

  • Very sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. My condolences to Yvonne & Dola family during your time of grieving. Jim was very active in sports growing up and I remember when our Girls softball team needed a coach to be able to register for the league. I think I was 14 of 15 at the time. Well, since Yvonne & Jim we’re dating then, Jim stepped up to take on the challenge of coaching our team. Not sure if he knew exactly what he got into, with a dozen or so young women to coach, but he was there all the time for our practices & games. We had lots of fun that year and won many games with our team. many competing towns we played against were surprised that our Coach was a young man, not a typical situation back then. Jim was a true supporter of young women playing sports and having fun with friends and team mates from their own community. I wan’t surprised to see recently that Jim was running for town council, he would have been really great! RIP Jim and enjoy that ball game in heaven. - Posted by: Noreen Campbell (Friend) on: Oct 20, 2018

  • I have very fond memories of Jim from visits we had while growing up. It was always so much fun to go over to Auntie Annie's and spend time with those "rowdy boys". Jim always had such a genuine smile and big hug for every one and he treated everyone like gold. And out of the bunch I think he was the most trustworthy. (*Wink*) We will definately miss you, Jim. • Yvonne, Janie, Becky...we are very sad to hear of Jim's passing. We share so many memories going back so many years. Jim was larger than life and it is just sad that he was robbed of so many years that should have been his to live. • My family and I are saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. So many fond memories in my younger years playing baseball. One memory I will never forget is “ The lawn chair” . Any chair Jim sat in he broke, a gentle giant he was. So I went to work and built him a chair, out of rebar with his name on the back and a beer holder. The “ Canadians” baseball team presented it to him. Ohhh did he laugh but he loved it. Yvonne, Janie and Becky, know that we all hold such fond memories of Jim. He will be missed dearly by everyone who’s lives he had touched. Hold each other close. Sending all our love to the Dola Clan. - Posted by: Lawrence & Leanne Stutsky (Friend) on: Oct 17, 2018

  • My heart is shattered... "Tannis"(Interlake Potato Farm Nickname), why you?? The nicest guy ever, who could leave a positive imprint on even the most negative people. A smile that always brightened your day. Our lives continued to cross paths for over 34 years. From working together at Interlake Potato Farms to slow pitch to fun times Dola Bros Trucking, to having a great time at the Teulon Tractor Pull. I never met a more unselfish soul than Jim. The sadness has crept into my heart for Yvonne, Janie, and Becky...and for myself. Sure wish HE would have let us have a few more decades with you, ya big gorilla. One day we will meet again and I'll find enough guys to help wrestle you down next time buddy!! (Failed miserably the first go-around! lol) R.I.P. Young Fella... - Posted by: Paul Lacroix (Friend) on: Oct 16, 2018
