Date of Passing: Oct 11, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAGALI JOURNE-KLASS On Thursday, October 11, 2018, Magali passed away in her sleep after a valiant battle with cancer. Mourning her loss are sons, Paul and Simon of Winnipeg, mother Claude Journé of France, sister-in-law Alison Fogel (née Klass), and many lifelong friends. Magali was predeceased by her father René Journé, brother Ramuntcho Journé, and former husband Warren Klass. After receiving her teaching degree, she immigrated to England, and then to Canada where she began teaching in the public school system. Her career ended at 17 Wing Winnipeg Training Centre where she worked for over 25 years teaching French to Canadian military personnel. She always sought creative ways to inspire students, was a keen observer of world affairs and, herself, a passionate student of life. Her foremost priority, however, was raising her sons, her great source of pride of fulfilment. In spite of the challenges of failing mobility for the last decade, Magali approached life with an open mind and determination to give back to her community. She was, in fact, a greater inspiration to us than she could ever know. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street. Donations in her memory can be made to Plan Canada. I am greatly saddened by the passing of Magali. In the early days, it was such a joy to see how entertained she was when Warren and I would explore the history of ideas. There was a bright light in her eyes as she looked at two overgrown teenagers play with metaphysics and spin philosophy. Then the boys came and were the great love of her life as they brought her so much challenge and so much joy. I am still here boys if ever you have questions of those early days. Take care of yourselves. - Posted by: Dave Narine (Friend) on: Nov 22, 2020

- Posted by: Marie-Christine Dauriac (connaissance) on: Oct 22, 2018

Magali was an exceptional women and an inspiration to all that knew her. She would always have a smile on her face and a positive word to say no matter what the challenges she faced. The world is a little dimmer today with news of her loss but I'm sure her light will shine on in her children. My deepest condolences to all of her family and friends. - Posted by: Josée Emond (Former Co-Worker) on: Oct 18, 2018
