IRENE CRANWILL (nee RUSSELL) August 13, 1927 - October 13, 2018 It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the peaceful passing of Irene Cranwill on October 13, after a long and happy life. Irene is survived by sons, Brent (Heather) and Dean (Ashley); grandchildren, Jared (Mimi), Marni (Adam), Kathryn (Wesley) and Thomas; great-grandson Nolan; and her bonus grandsons, Brandon and Daniel (Raia). She is also survived by brother Cyril Russell, sister Ellen Russell, sister-in-law Doreen Cranwill, as well as many very close friends, nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by husband Bill, grandson Bryce, and sister Vivien. Irene was born on the family farm in Swan River and moved with the family to Winnipeg in 1942. Irene and Bill were married in 1950 and moved to St. Vital in 1955 where they raised their family and enjoyed a long and happy marriage. Mom had a long and successful career as a dental nurse and was thought of highly by all of her patients. A longtime member of the Winnipeg Canoe Club, Mom played golf regularly well into her later years. Another love of hers was the game of Bridge, which she played often. She cherished all of the Bridge friendships she had made, some of them lasting for over 60 years. Irene was also a regular attendant at her sons' and grandchildren's sporting events, and even participated occasionally. Mom always made her home a welcome place for everyone. Ever with a smile on her face, her selfless nature endeared her to all. As per Irene's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. A private family interment will take place at a later date. She is loved and will be missed by many. In lieu of cards and flowers, please pass on a smile and a good deed to a stranger.
