HAROLD NILS HEDLUND September 25, 1934 - October 21, 2018 Peacefully on Sunday, October 21, Dad passed away at Golden Links Lodge at the age of 84. Left to cherish his memory are his children, son Terry, his children, Andrew, Justin, Sarah and Samantha, daughters, Marianne (Steve) Glufka and their daughter Rachel, Lisa, (Mark) Nieman their children, Garrett and Lauren, and Trish (Luis) Cabral and their children, Tyler and Victoria. Dad is survived by his sister Anne Young and brother Terry Hedlund (Marion) both of Thunder Bay, Ontario, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Geraldine (Zanni), brother-in-law Ted Zanni, and brother-in-law William (Bill) Young. Dad was born and raised in Fort William, Ontario and married the love of his life on August 29, 1957. Together they raised their four children in both Thunder Bay, then Winnipeg. Dad worked his entire career with CPR starting at the age of 14 and retiring as a CP Police Staff Sargent after a fulfilling career that spanned over 40 years. Before Mom's passing they enjoyed many bus trips across Canada and the US - Dad was a simple man, who led a simple life. He was an avid golfer, and was fortunate to be able to golf until his 80th year. He truly loved his Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs which always brought a smile to his face. As per Dad's wishes, there will be no formal service. A private family interment will take place at a later date. They family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Golden Links Lodge. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
