VICTOR (HECTOR) SAMUEL BOUDREAU It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Victor (Hector) Samuel Boudreau on October 27, 2018. Born in Chéticamp, Nova Scotia on July 28, 1935, to Justile (née Poirier) and Amédé Boudreau, he is survived by his wife Shirley, his son Jonathan (Danielle), two grandsons Alex and Carter, his daughter Alanna (Steve), his brother Léo (Jane) of Truro, sisters Dora and Lorette of Chéticamp and countless nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, two older brothers and six older sisters. Victor moved to Montreal in 1955 to work for Northern Electric and chose to relocate to Winnipeg in 1957. He started work for the Department of Physical Plant at the University of Manitoba in 1964, retiring in 1995. He had a deep love of music and dedicated countless hours to playing his guitar and singing, and treasured his regular Thursday evenings playing with his son Jonathan. He was thrilled to be a Pépère to Alex (5) and Carter (3) and cherished all his time spent with them. And for the boys, no birthday was official without Pépère playing Bonne Fête. He joined the Interfaith Harmony Theatre after moving to Winnipeg, performed at the Hollow Mug Dinner Theatre and appeared in numerous Rainbow Stage productions. After retiring, he joined the Bison Men's Chorus and the Joie De Vivre choir. He loved travelling the world but especially relished trips home to Chéticamp to visit family. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and spent many hours working through them in collaboration with anyone willing to assist. He was the most loving, generous, welcoming, patient and easy going person. He always made time for family and friends and unfailingly expanded that embrace to include newcomers. Our lives were improved by his serene presence and we miss him dearly. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John Brebeuf Parish, 1707 John Brebeuf Place on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 10:45 a.m. with a reception, followed by a private interment with immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John Brebeuf Parish, in Winnipeg or Paroisse Saint-Pierre in Chéticamp, NS. • Victor was a dear friend and extremely likeable. We worked in the physical plant together and I eventually persuaded him to join me in the Bison Mens Choir in the baritone section. He loved it and was a valuable addition to the choir. You are sadly missed, my friend. Tom Jones. - Posted by: Tom Jones (Friend) on: Sep 09, 2021

  • We were very sorry to hear of Victor’s passing. He was such a gentle man with a heartwarming smile. It always amazed me that Adam, Erin and I all came to know Victor and the family independently. Our deepest sympathy to you, Shirley, Jon, Alanna, and all the family. - Posted by: Steve and Lynn Morrison (Friends) on: Nov 05, 2018

  • As a little kid, and playing with Alanna at her house, I fondly remember Mr. Boudreau singing and playing his guitar, sharing fresh vegetables from his garden, and always making sure I was welcome and having a wonderful time. Even though I hadn't seen him in years, he left a lasting impression as one of the nicest and kindest dads I have met. My sincerest condolences to Alanna and family during this difficult time. - Posted by: Catherine Moradi (Symes) (Friend) on: Nov 03, 2018

  • Vic made the world a better place. I knew him as a child performer at the Hollow Mug. He was so kind to everyone! Years later, I bumped into him at St. Jean Brebeuf when my mom was a choir director. He was as youthful and warm as he was some 40 years earlier. I was saddened to hear from my brother today that you lost a husband, dad and grandpa. Condolences to all in Victor’s circle of love. - Posted by: Carla Lother (Friend) on: Oct 31, 2018
