PETER WINNEMULLER
Born: Sep 05, 1940
Date of Passing: Oct 31, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER WINNEMULLER September 5, 1940 - October 31, 2018 After a hard fought battle, surrounded by his family and bathed in the love sent to him from every corner of the globe, Peter reached out for the hand of his beloved granddaughter Thora, and she walked him home. One cannot put into a short obituary the many adventures of Peter. He endured many hardships - from spending three and a half years of his childhood in various Indonesian concentration camps, to moving to a new country as a refugee without knowing the language, to losing a grandchild, to living 23 years with Parkinson's Disease. Through it all he kept a positive attitude, worked hard, and maintained an adventurous spirit and a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. He tried to live by the Golden Rule, gave tirelessly of his time, stood up for those who couldn't stand up for themselves, treated people with respect, and knew the importance of humour. He was a wonderful husband to Hildur for 55 years, a dedicated father, a proud and often bragging Afi, and he was a loyal friend to many. His memory will live on through those his life has touched. His gifts have been passed on to his children and grandchildren. They will honour his memory by nurturing these gifts and sharing them. Peter was predeceased by his granddaughter Thora Einarson, his parents, Joseph and Alida Winnemuller, and Wilfred and Gerda Finnson, as well as many friends and family members with whom he now will join. He will be missed terribly by the love of his life, Hildur; children, Kim and Jeff Einarson, Duane and Diane Winnemuller, and Michelle and Paul Eramchuk; grandchildren, Avery and Kevin, Alida, Aidan and Soren; special family Richard, Aaron and Mina; siblings, Herman and Roberta, Corrie, Harry and Karen, Elly and Bob, Joyce and Stan, Rick and Sally; many in-laws, nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. Sincere gratitude to the staff at Tudor for the love and respect shown to Peter in his final months. Special thanks to Dr. Demsas for care and friendship. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, Peter requested donations be made to the Khartum Shrine patient transportation fund (1155 Wilkes Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3P 1B9) or Riverdale Place Workshop (Box 609, Arborg, MB R0C 0AO), or to a charity of one's choice. Condolences, pictures and videos may be left on his tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

On behalf of the Martyniw family please accept our sincere condolences on Peter’s passing. In his recent years at Cambridge House and Tudor House it was a pleasure to stop and talk, share memories and talk about what was happening at the time. He will be missed but often in our thoughts. He will be missed and we extend our Condolences to Hildur and the children and grandchildren and Peter’s brothers and sisters and extended family members. - Posted by: Joe and Maryanne Overwater Schers (Friends) on: Nov 06, 2018

I was blessed to have worked with Peter in the early 90s in Gimli. When he moved to Tudor House where my Mom resides I had a chance to renew our friendship. Such a kind and gentle man with so many stories. - Posted by: Wayne Harder (coworket) on: Nov 04, 2018

Former neighbours at 629 and 631 Clandeboye Ave in Selkirk, we experienced Peter growing up, helping his father build the houses after school and Saturdays. Like myself, Peter also chose Psychiatric Nursing as his career, while father Joseph did the night shifts at SMHC. To Hildur and family, as well as the sisters and brothers Winemuller, my sincere sympathies - Peter suffered for many years with his debilitating illness from which he is now free. May the Lord grant him eternal peace. - Posted by: Frank Niesink (Fellow R.P.N Ret. - family friend) on: Nov 02, 2018
