GUY RONALD JOSEPH BISSONNETTE May 17, 1952 - October 29, 2018 Peacefully, with his wife and two children at his side, Guy unexpectedly passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest. Left to mourn are his wife of 44 years, Sharon, daughter Monique (Greg), son Jared (Kara), and grandsons, Owen, Sam, Troy, and Kevin. Guy also leaves behind his mom Yvette; brothers, Gerry (Dolores), Robert (Denise), Paul (Beppie), Leo (Diane), Renaud, and Lucien (Ilaria); sisters, Aline (Kerry) and Rina; and in-laws, Darlene (Lorne), Wayne, and Cheryl (Glenn), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, close friends and extended family. Guy was predeceased by his dad Dollard; sister Diane; father-in-law Bennie; mother-in-law Anna; and brothers-in-law, Leo and Gerry. The third oldest of 10 kids, Guy was born in Willow Bunch, SK, where he grew up nearby on the family farm in St. Victor, SK. Being one of the older kids in the family, Guy was expected to contribute to the chores on the farm from an early age. Guy was a handful as a child, so his mother likes to tell. Many a story has been told about the creative ways Guy used to pawn off his chores on his younger siblings, so he could sneak in a nap whenever he could. Guy met Sharon in high school and they've been inseparable since. After graduating high school, Guy joined the RCMP and was stationed in Manitoba. Guy and Sharon maintained their long distance relationship until she graduated high school and they married in August, 1974. They remained in Manitoba throughout Guy's 25 year career in the RCMP, where he worked in the Portage La Prairie, Cranberry Portage, Thompson, Reston, Selkirk, Grand Marais and Winnipeg detachments. Guy purchased Whispering Pines Campground in the Whiteshell Provincial Park during his last year in the RCMP. After retiring Guy and Sharon moved to Prawda for a brief stint and they settled in Pinawa for the next 16 years. The campground was his labour of love for the 17 years that he owned it. Guy also got to apply his love for cooking and meeting people when he built and ran Mad Dogs, a c-store and grill for four years. After selling the campground in 2010, Guy and Sharon travelled in their motorhome throughout the southern United States, bought a place in Florida for a few years and then moved to Dugald in 2016 to be closer to Winnipeg. Guy loved golf, baseball, hockey, curling and football, was religious about doing the daily Winnipeg Sun crossword puzzle, always found a morning coffee crew to attend, enjoyed happy hours with friends and family, was a diehard Saskatchewan Roughrider fan, and he had an unforgettable laugh. Guy's gruff voice and tough exterior could be intimidating to some, but he had one of the biggest hearts once you got to know him and wore his heart on this sleeve. He was a loving husband, father, pops, pepere, son, brother and friend. He was our diamond in the rough and we wouldn't have wanted him any other way! A memorial service for family will take place on November 10, 2018 in Gravelbourg, SK. A celebration of Guy's life will also be held on November 19, 2018, where everyone is welcome to drop in and join us for a beverage and share memories between 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. at the Dugald Community Centre, 544 Holland St., Dugald, MB. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if you so wish, a charitable donation can be made to the South East Whiteshell Fire Department, Box 88 Whiteshell Post Office, West Hawk Lake, MB R0E 2H0 or to the South East Whiteshell Cemetery, Box 69 Whiteshell Post Office, West Hawk Lake, MB R0E 2H0.
