LORRAINE KEIN (nee HUFF) January 19, 1934 - October 27, 2018 It is with great sadness I announce the passing of my mother on October 27, 2018 at the age of 84 years old. She was predeceased by her husband Don in 2015 and her loving sister Geraldine Doern in 2007. She is survived by one son, Wayne Kein. In her early days, she would meet her husband-to-be at Blue Bomber football games. As time progressed, and they married, they were blessed with a loving son Wayne - whom both parents were so proud of. My mother always said, if she had known how well I would have turned out as a son, she would not have stopped at one child. Life was hard for Mom and Dad at the start of their life together. Mom was first employed with MTS as a switchboard operator. She then progressed in her career and worked 25 years at Scotiabank where things improved for her and her family and life became much more enjoyable. When I was young, Mom would always have time to stop what she was doing and play board games with me, so I did not feel alone. My mom and her sister Geraldine were both great cooks and enjoyed having many family dinners where we could all be together. Geraldine always said that my mom made the best cookies and coleslaw. This was a special talent of hers for which she was proud. Those cookies were the best. Coleslaw...delicious. She also loved to plant and take care of her many flowers and garden. Every year, it was beautiful and a wonder to see. I had to build a chain-link fence to keep the deer out of the garden. They too totally enjoyed her garden. She loved the family suppers that were held by Doug and Laurie, Janice and Mel and Russell and Joanne. Those times and gatherings were precious to her. She loved her many trips to Las Vegas and no sooner would she be back, my mom would say, "I am ready to go again Wayne". She thought of her niece and godchild Janice Copsey as more of a daughter to her. They shared a special bond and enjoyed many times together. Janice's late husband Bill thought my mom was cut from royalty. What a crown to wear. Special thanks to Judy Gilchrist, a longtime friend, for all the trips and fun times she shared with you. Also, thank you to the wonderful staff at the Morris Hospital for your kindness and care shown to my mom. Thanks Mom for having such a big heart and for showing me how to care and enjoy life. Every time I would walk through the door, you would always say "Wayne - you are home"! How I would love to hear you say this one more time Mom. My mom and dad shared 57 years together and now they are together again. I love you and you will always be in my heart. In honour of Mom's wishes, a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers or gifts, give your mom or dad a hug if they are still here with you.
