IAN LESLIE Ian George Leslie passed away with family by his side on October 28, 2018, in Winnipeg at the St. Boniface Hospital. Ian is survived by his children, Karen (Andy), Robert (Susan), and Colleen (Chris). Six grandchildren, Megan, Kaitlin, Amelia, Ian, Eva, and Milla. Along with his sister Heather (Richard). Ian was born September 24, 1940, growing up in East Kildonan. As a young boy he participated in hockey and lacrosse, but baseball was his true passion. Ian played in multiple baseball leagues and was awarded for his play including MVP awards in 1957. A highlight in Ian's baseball was playing in the Little League World Series at Wrigley Field in Chicago. It was in East Kildonan where he met a figure skater and his future wife Brenda. Brenda and Ian spent time together riding buses to baseball tournaments and skating competitions in the city and later married in 1961. Ian joined MTS where he built his professional career, he spent 36 years with MTS before retiring in Winnipeg. After four years they decided to move to Nanaimo, BC in 1997 where he and Brenda enjoyed the milder weather. There they filled time with golf, gardening, and travel. After Brenda passed away in 2014, Ian found his way back to Winnipeg soon after to be with family. Ian was loved and will be deeply missed by family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on behalf of Ian to the Manitoba Lung Association, 301-1 Wesley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4C6; Phone (204) 774-5501.
