OMAR TASSE July 22, 1975 - November 2, 2018 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing away of our beloved son, brother, and nephew, Omar Tasse on November 2, 2018. Omar was born in Winnipeg on July 22, 1975 and lived in Winnipeg with his parents and his wife Salwa. He was a loving, caring and attentive son, sibling and husband. Omar will be remembered by his large extended family for his kindness, humility and deep respect for elders and love for community. Omar grew up in Winnipeg and was well known both in the Muslim community for his active support and beyond, as a hard working and friendly manager at Mid Town Car Wash. He was also the General Manager at Car Land Inc. for more than 20 years. He was honoured in 2016 as one of the "good people of Winnipeg" for his honesty in returning a customer's property - an act of kindness that was just one example of Omar's depth of character. He greeted everyone with a big smile and was always willing to help. Omar is survived by his parents, Mohammed and Hosn Tasse, wife Salwa, brother Abraham, sister Amina and his paternal uncle Abdo Eltassi, aunts, Aishi and Amine and his many cousins. He is predeceased by his sister Fatima. His family extends its heartfelt appreciation to the attending physicians: Dr. Akra, Dr. Banerji, Dr. Daliwal, Pam Johnson and all the staff at CancerCare for their excellent care of Omar. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to CancerCare Manitoba or Manitoba Islamic Association. Funeral service was held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 1:45 p.m. at the Grand Mosque, 2445 Waverley St. Burial followed at Glenlawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodière Blvd. People who wished to give their respects visited the family at the Grand Mosque after the burial.

My condolences to the family. It saddens me learn of this early loss. I only knew him as a customer, I could see he's a Hands-On Man In Charge. Although that I'm a realtor today I used to have my own shell and I can only appreciate the hard work and dedication it takes to take care of his customers as well as he did, to train staff as well as he did and from what I read, you took care of his family and Community as well. We are losing family run businesses that appreciate Sunday as a day of rest. We are losing managers and owners who get to meet their clients face to face and practice excellence in customer service. I feel free to say that the community will also feel this void. I will continue to support your family business and promoted as I have on Twitter. God Bless - Posted by: Pierre Prest (customer) on: Nov 13, 2018

My condolences to the Tasse family and his extended family. I worked with Omar in the 90's at Peerless Garments. He always had a smile on his face for me. The whole Tasse family treated me like family. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal Love leaves a memory no one can steal. - Posted by: Kerry (Baier) Hamrick (old co-worker) on: Nov 06, 2018

Omar had a special way about him that will always stick with me. He had a welcoming smile and unique presence about him. I can still hear him saying to all around ... “yeah eh”!!! He would say that in many situations and would make everyone around him laugh. We will miss you very much Big O and will see you again someday. I have many stories and memories to share that all bring a big smile to my face. My condolences to the entire Tasse family. - Posted by: Ann (Friend ) on: Nov 05, 2018

I'm so sorry for your loss Tasse family. Omar was such a kind man. He always made sure his sister was taken care of and he always tried his best when it came to Carland. He had a goofy laugh that always put a smile on anyone's face. What an absolute shock, I am deeply sorry - Posted by: Andrea (Worked beside him at Flamingo Carwash) on: Nov 04, 2018
