EDWARD (TED) HUTSAL On Thursday, November 1, 2018, Ted Hutsal, beloved brother and uncle, passed away at the age of 63. Ted was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Evelyn Hutsal; and is survived by siblings, Michael and Gisele Hutsal, Greg and Valerie Hutsal, Jocelyn and Brent VanKoughnet, and Janice and Brent Young; and nieces and nephews, Frances and Mark Hutsal, Carmen and Alexa Hutsal, Joel and Katie VanKoughnet, and Brandon and Steve Young. Ted was born in Winnipeg, the third of five children, but grew up in Brandon, Manitoba. He graduated from Vincent Massey (Brandon) in 1973 and began a 25 year career in various positions with Feed-Rite Ltd. He eventually joined Western Glove as a power engineer until his retirement. Ted was a quiet, reserved person who lived simply and was never boastful or wanting the limelight. He was always willing to share his mechanical talents, had the patience and intestinal fortitude to teach both his sisters to drive a standard transmission, loved to be behind the wheel of a well engineered vehicle, be it a car or a motorcycle and was a train enthusiast. He enjoyed cooking, and went to great lengths to search out the key ingredients for Ukrainian Christmas Eve supper. Ted had a very kind and generous heart, and one of the ways he quietly showed his caring nature was to spend countless hours visiting our mother and family friends, as age took away their independence and Mom's mental acuity. As we reflect on his life, we hope we can carry his example of big and small kindnesses with us always, for the world truly needs that. Love you forever Ted. A memorial reception will be held at Glendale Country Club, 400 Augier Ave., Winnipeg, on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Siloam Mission or the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba.
