RONALD MEHMEL 1951 - 2018 Peacefully, on Sunday, November 4, 2018, with family by his side, Ron passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 67 years. A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, November 9, at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery) at 2:00 p.m. Longer obituary notice to follow. My thoughts are with Ron's friend and family. Ron was an example for me and touched my life. We worked together on several projects, he was a dear and appreciated colleague. His views on dealing with difficult moments, whether professionally or personally were an inspiration. Ron took me to my first Hockey game ever in Winnipeg (Jets against Leafs) won by the locals. Ron was my neighbour, mentor and friend. I had the chance a few weeks ago to visit him at St. B and thanked him for the positive influence he had on my life. Ron guided me through a number of personal and professional struggles and I am where I am in some part due to his advice. To me Ron was always calm, level headed and patient. When I worked for him at Simon Day I asked for a raise and he turned me down, that pissed me off but I got over it and continued to respect him for the rest of his life. To the family members, I am so sorry to hear of the death of Mr. Ron Mehmel. My deepest sympathies to the family in this difficult time. Please know that the family is in my prayers.
