Date of Passing: Oct 31, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORRAINE RICARD A gentle heart stopped beating, so it is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Lorraine, at the age of 85 years, on October 31, 2018, surrounded by her family. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Colombe (Marvin) Arneson; sons, Norman (Colette), Gerald (Doreen) and Réjean (Michèle); grandchildren, Broderick, Garett (Sandra), Kyle (Chantel), Rebecca, Alec, Elizabeth and Félix; and great-grandchildren; Dahlia, Reyn, Brynli and baby Isaac born just a few hours after her passing. Also left to mourn are her siblings, Marc, Luc (Yvette), Denise (Donat), Rose and Cécile; as well as her sisters-in-law, Corinne and Thérèse. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Bernard; her son Gilbert; as well as her siblings, Roland, Théodore (Bella), Amédée, Florence (Gérard) and Lucie (Pete). Lorraine lived a full and happy life. She was always smiling and friendly and had a good sense of humour. Lorraine had the proverbial green thumb. Many hours were spent in her little greenhouse and flower gardens with beautiful results. Her love of quilting was evident in the many treasures she left behind. Our family story was interwoven in the fabric. So much love, so many memories. Other hobbies and interests included travelling, berry picking, baking and crossword puzzles. She enjoyed camping and spent many wonderful summers in Falcon Lake and Stonewall. She also loved spending time with her siblings and their families. Many nights were spent in kitchens and living rooms around St. Jean Baptiste, playing cards and laughing into the wee hours. Heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the nursing staff at Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care Unit for their wonderful care, compassion and kindness. Viewing will take place at Desjardins Funeral Home, 357 rue Des Meurons, Winnipeg, MB, on Friday, November 9, 2018 between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 30, 2018 at the St. Norbert Parish, 80 St. Pierre Street, with Fr. Gabriel Lévesque presiding. Eulogies will begin at 10:15 a.m. with Mass following at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place in the St. Norbert Parish Cemetery. A reception will follow downstairs at salle Ritchot. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation, One Morley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4. By doing a kind deed or saying a kind word to someone in need, our mother's memory will live on forever. Desjardins 204-233-4949 1-888-233-4949 www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca

I only now found this posting on the internet, 3 and a half years late. Many years of being a snot-nosed kid coming over and asking if Rej could play. Mrs. Ricard was always a lovely and welcome lady with a great laugh. I have nothing but warm and fond memories of her. Rest In Peace fine lady. - Posted by: Derek Olshevski (Old friend of Réjean/son of Marjorie across the street) on: Jan 28, 2022
