LORRAINE R. BRISEBOIS
Date of Passing: Nov 05, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORRAINE R. BRISEBOIS It is with profound sadness that we announce Lorraine's passing on Monday, November 5, 2018, after a very short stay at the St. Boniface Palliative Care unit. She would have celebrated her 80th birthday this coming February. Despite being diagnosed with cancer ten years ago, she decided to leave her faith in the hands of God and lived a fulfilled and active life up until the last few months when her cancer returned. When her suffering was to begin, God sent His angels for her. Lorraine died as she lived, on her terms, at St. Boniface Palliative Care unit; quickly; in no pain; and with her family by her side. She leaves behind a son, Michael (Loree Pash), South Junction; and a daughter, Suzanne (Paul Charkavi), Ottawa. Lorraine will be greatly missed by her two granddaughters, Kristin (Brent Houle) and Michelle (Kurtis Bartoshyk); as well as great-grandchildren, Levi and Jordan, all of Winnipeg. She will also be missed by other family members and her many friends including those at River Gardens where she lived for many years after downsizing from the family home in the Windsor Park area. Lorraine spent many years working in Accounts Payable and Receiving at Burns Meats before retiring to fulfill a lifelong dream of attending university to obtain a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Social Work Degree. Following this, she worked at Winnipeg Child and Family Services before permanently retiring. Throughout her life, Lorraine actively volunteered in a number of organizations and capacities including at Taché Nursing Home, the Alzheimer Society, St. Bernadette's Parish, as well as 27 years at St. Boniface Hospital in the palliative care and geriatric units. Lorraine enjoyed lively discussions with her family and friends, travelling, reading a good mystery book, but, most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Awaiting her arrival are her husband Charles; and daughter Monique; as well as a number of family and dear friends who passed before her. Mom, you will be sadly missed but we are comforted in knowing that you are at peace without pain or sorrow, and with your Lord. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to her family doctor, Dr. Philip Hughes, for his care and compassion over the years. Lorraine's family invites you to join them for a celebration of her life on Wednesday, November 14, at 9:30 a.m., at Desjardins Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at South Junction Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Winnipeg in Lorraine's memory. Desjardins 204-233-4949 1-888-233-4949 www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca
