Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET ROSE JOHNSTON May 3, 1935 - November 7, 2018 Margaret Rose Johnston (nee Watson), aged 83, passed away peacefully at Grace Hospital after complications with pneumonia. She spent her last few days enjoying being lovingly surrounded by many family members. Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, William (Bill) Johnston, who passed away in June, 2018, and by her sister Lydia Joan Brailey (Fred), who passed away in January, 2018. She will be forever missed and remembered with much affection by her brother Norm (Evelyn), her sons, Glenn (Cathy), Gord (Pam - deceased) and Doug (Karen), her daughter Kathryn, and her grandchildren, Caitlin, Patrick, Megan, David and Chamonix. Margaret was born and raised in Toronto where at the age of 22 she graduated from the University of Toronto, Victoria College, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. That same year she married Bill, a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force and began her journey of military postings across Canada and to Germany. In between packing, unpacking and raising four children, she became a library technician, which suited her well with her love of books and reading. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for many years and thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with her sorority sisters. She was a keen bridge player and miniature enthusiast, and in later years she found herself to be a very skilled bocce ball player, winning several medals in the All Seniors Care Seniors Games. Post-retirement, she and Bill had a full life of travelling, hosting and attending parties with friends, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. They eventually moved to Sturgeon Creek I, a senior's residence, where they happily spent their last few years together. Funeral services will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace Hospital Foundation (300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7, 204-837-0375). The family would like to thank the caring staff at Grace Hospital and at Brightwater Senior Living of Tuxedo, where Margaret resided for the past few months.
