ANNE MARION
Born: May 15, 1923
Date of Passing: Nov 15, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE MARION Our dear mother passed away peacefully, comforted by her family, at St. Boniface Hospital, on Thursday, November 15, 2018, as a result of complications from a heart attack. Mom was born on May 15, 1923 in Mountain Park, Alberta. She grew up on a farm near Sturgis, Saskatchewan and lived there until, as a young adult, she moved to Portage La Prairie, Manitoba to work in service and then at the Home For Incurables during the Second World War. It was at a dance in Portage that she met Hector, the handsome young soldier, who would become her husband. Anne and Hector lived lovingly and supportively together for 49 years until his death in 1994. Anne's vocation was housewife and mother. She brought many talents to this role. She was resourceful, making do with modest means, yet often finding ways to make a "silk purse out of a sow's ear". Her creativity, within her domestic domain, was a delight to her children with its many innovations. Her work ethic was second to none. She kept a spotless house, unfailingly made three square meals a day for her family and even for herself until the day she died. She was exacting and definitive in everything she did. She had a deep appreciation of music and found delight in simple pleasures. She was selfless in the extreme. She always put her loved ones' needs before her own. She had more than her share of common sense, humility and courage. She was a true daughter of the prairies. Decent. Hardworking. Humble. She was so, so loved. Her like will not soon come this way again. Although she was 95 when she died, the value of her life did not diminish with age. Mom left a message for her loved ones which echoes this sentiment: "The value of life lies not in the length of days, but in the use we make of them". Mom's life reflected this maxim everyday. Her first child died in early infancy. She is survived by her five other children: Diane Keating, Susan Munroe (Jim), Don Marion (Shelley), Patty Whitehill, David Marion (Cris); her seven grandchildren: Jason (Josee), Trevor (Kelcey), Steven (Megan), Derek (Sheridan), Katie, Carter, Grayson and their Mother, Connie; three great-grandchildren: Devon, Angela and Hunter; Jim's daughters, Leigh and Jennifer (Al, Hera and Milo); two sisters, Mae Bulman and Jane Kilbrai, and many nieces and nephews. And of course her granddogs, Sierra, Cooper and Jake. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Anne Marion can be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, Salvation Army, the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of your choice. A service of remembrance will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Green Acres Funeral Home.
