KEVIN CLIFFORD NICHOLS Kevin, beloved husband of Cari, and loving father to Morgan and Lainie, passed away on November 17, 2018. He leaves to mourn his parents, Clifford and Mary; sister Tanya; brother Dale (Shelly); mother-in-law Carole; brother-in-law Harry (Sheri); sister-in-law Tannis (Bob); nieces and nephews, Kayla, Krystal, Tyson, Josie, Curtis, Riley and Randi, and great-nephew Michael, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Kevin held a strong work ethic and followed his fathers career path as a Journeyman Sprinkler fitter, first with Simplex Grinnell and then with Bison Fire Protection as a Sprinkler manager. Kevin loved nature and the outdoors, whether it be hunting, fishing with friends or camping with family, and he shared that love of the outdoors with Morgan and Lainie. Throughout his life, Kevin participated in and coached many sports but his best talent and passion was football. As a member of the St. Vital Mustangs, Kevin developed a love for not only the game, but also for his teammates, whom he considered his "brothers". Kevin's greatest joy was his children, Morgan and Lainie. He was immensely proud of both of his daughters with whom he not only shared his love of the outdoors with, but also his competitive spirit. He spent countless hours at dance recitals, soccer fields and hockey rinks. Leading by example, Kevin taught his children laughter, kindness to others, and to always put family first. Kevin was the best of husbands, the best of fathers and is forever in our hearts and our thoughts as we cherish our memories together. A celebration of Kevin's life will take place on Saturday, November 24 at 2:00 p.m. at The United Church in Meadowood, 1111 Dakota Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or to St. Mary's Academy Foundation and donations will be made to the Mother Mary Rose Bursary Fund. Our condolences to the Nichols family. Kevin was a great guy and an excellent hockey dad! He saved me once, a few years back. Our daughters played on the same spring team and he helped me with a brake issue when I couldn’t safely drive my vehicle home. Kevin and his dad found the gravel in my caliper and my daughter (Lainie’s teammate) and I were safe to go. Neither of these men thought twice about helping us. True gentlemen. I am so very sorry to hear of his passing. - Posted by: Heather yewdall (Fellow hockey parent) on: Dec 17, 2018

Please accept my condolences to the Nichols family. My heart sunk when I heard the news. There are few people in our lives that are genuine, kind, loving and generous. I knew Kevin many years ago but his memory still impacts myself and my Daughter, Victoria. It is rare that you meet someone that you can find no fault in. That was Kevin. He was like a Brother to me and always will be. His Heart of Gold will Resonate Forever. My prayers are with the family in this time of loss. - Posted by: Lynne Klassen (friend) on: Nov 28, 2018

To Mr. & Mrs. Nichols, Tanya and family. I was definitely saddened to learn of Kevin’s passing. Kevin was a great guy, an awesome friend, and someone you could definitely depend on when the chips were down....no matter what. His loss is weighing heavily on me, especially considering that he and his sister Tanya were were among the first friends that I made when I moved to St. Vital.......RIP Kevin.....you might be gone from our lives here on earth, however your spirit will live on in me, and the many other lives you touched....😢 - Posted by: Rob Sommerville (School friends of both Kevin & Tanya) on: Nov 24, 2018

True sadness came over me when I learned of Kevin’s illness and subsequent passing. Kevin was a few years ahead of me in our chosen profession as Sprinkler fitters, so I looked up to him as a big brother. His guidance showed me that professionalism an pride in your work trumps all. Encouraging me to be on time and working until quitting time are some of the traits that I remember of him. Even a few sayings/mannerisms that I pass onto my apprentices today stem from Kevin’s teachings. Love, hugs and tears, from my family to yours. - Posted by: David Hlatky (Co-worker) on: Nov 22, 2018

I will always remember fondly the football games at Darwin, street hockey and wrestling in the grass, even the figure-four leg locks! Kevin was one of the neighbourhood older brothers and was a great role model. God bless all of you and I wish you peace and comfort. - Posted by: Richard (Neighbour) on: Nov 22, 2018

Chad has shared so many wonderful stories of his “brother” Kevin and his other Nichols’ family members from his growing up years. He even remembers thinking he actually was a Nichols, & not a Radomsky...as he spent that much time with them, in their home & felt he had so much in common with his Nichols' siblings. Years later, & after Chad & I found each other; the Nichols' clan welcomed me & my daughter Kassia into their hearts, lives & home with absolute open & non-judgemental loving arms. We have enjoyed many fun & memorable occasions together, stayed in touch over the years & moves & many life changes. Auntie Mary & Uncle Cliff will always be Auntie Mary & Uncle Cliff...to ALL of us. Kevin will always be remembered as the big protective brother & fun uncle Kevin he was - not only to his own family...but for anyone lucky enough (like us) to be in his life. Cari, Morgan & Lainie...call on us should you need anything. We love you & hope you know we consider you family. Auntie Mary, Uncle Cliff, Tanya, Kayla, Krystal, Dale, Shelly, Tyson & Josie...we love you all & are here for you too. Rest In Peace Kevin...thanks for your strength, passion, dedication, laughter & love. You’ll be in our hearts forever. ❤️🏈🥇 - Posted by: Radomsky’s (Family/friends ) on: Nov 21, 2018

I played football with Kevin. I was the very average player and he was one of the stars of the team. Looking back I don't know why he was so good to me, but we became close friends. That's just the kind of guy he was, good to everyone. Lost touch after football and I moved to BC and tried to track him down on Facebook often, but since learned that wasn't his thing. Guess he was too busy camping with his family lol. Heartbreaking to see him in August at the Mustangs dinner, a fragile shadow of himself, but as so many said that night "You can see Kevin in those eyes". Was good to hug him. Life is short. I met my first wife through Kevin and have two amazing daughters that mean everything to me because of Kevin. Thanks Kevin...I told them all about you. Wonderful to read you loved your girls sports as much as I did mine. Kevin, our brief friendship had a bigger impact on me than you could possibly have known. I'm sure that's a recurring theme from friends. Rest if peace. We won't forget you. - Posted by: Blake Roberts (Friend) on: Nov 21, 2018

We are very sorry to hear of Kevin's passing. We got to know Kevin through hockey as he coached our son Reid who also played hockey with Lainie. Thinking of your family at this time.
