MAURICE PICKLYK It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dearest Maurice Picklyk at the age of 76. Maurice leaves to mourn his wife Jeanette, sons, Todd and Troy, grandchildren, Tyler and Bryce, his sisters, Mary and Olga (Russell), and several nieces, nephews and friends. Maurice was predeceased by his father William M. Picklyk, mother Ann, brothers, Frank and Peter, sister Helen, and nephew Kenny. Maurice (Myroslaw) was born on February 24, 1942 and spent his early years on the family farm in Caliento. After the passing of his father Bill in 1969, his mother Ann was relocated to Vita, where the family continued to spend weekends. While in Vita Maurice created many fond memories while pitching for the Vita Cubs. When he lived in Winnipeg, he and his wife raised a family while he was employed at several odd jobs, but the bulk of his years were spent with many friends at Dominion Bridge. There he enjoyed driving a semi-trailer throughout Manitoba and in his later years, he became an Avery Drill operator. While in retirement, he and his wife enjoyed countless mornings vigorously debating over Bob Barker's Price Is Right, and the afternoons spent in the backyard enjoying each other's company while sun-tanning, and listening to CJOB radio. He took great pride and pleasure in watching his sons sporting events. His hobbies included bowling, playing cards, pool, and dancing to his uncle, Peter Picklyk and the Rhythm Aces. He was dedicated to following his favourite teams: the Montreal Canadiens, the Montreal Expos, and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Recently, he developed a goal to watch the Minnesota Vikings at the Dome. In his final years, he enjoyed the company of the staff and friends in the Simkin Centre, where he enjoyed many excursions throughout the city. The Funeral Rite will be held on Saturday, November 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, with reception to follow. We would also like to thank Father Eugene Maximiuk for the services he has provided to Maurice and the family. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Filipowich, Sean Mark, Ronny Muir, Tyler Picklyk, and Bryce Picklyk. Acts of condolences in memory can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association and the Grace Hospital. THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 204-925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com
