ASTROS HELGA EMILY MARTIN 1930 - 2018 Peacefully on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, Astros passed away in her sleep after a short stay at Riverview Hospital. Astros was born in Hnausa, Manitoba on October 24, 1930. Astros was predeceased by her beloved husband David; parents, Jacob and Gudrun Sigridur (Sigga); sisters, Jonia (Loa) and Sveinbjorg; and brothers, Albert, Arni and Kristinn, and one brother in infancy; brothers-in-law, Steward, Ian, Jack, and Fred. She is survived by sister-in-law Thelma. Left to cherish her memory are her son David (Diana), daughter Bonnie (Graham); grandchildren, Brett (Onyee), Megan, Ashley (Ben) and Brittney; and great-granddaughters, Hanna and Layla. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all her caregivers. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Rae & Jerry's Steakhouse, 1405 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Astros are asked to consider the Canadian Mental Health Association or a charity of your choice.
